Day 137 – Forgiveness
Numbers 15:17 Again JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 18 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘When you come into the land to which I bring you, 19 then it will happen when you eat the bread of the land, you will offer up a heave offering to JEHOVAH. 20 You will offer up a cake of the first of your ground meal as a heave offering; as a heave offering of the threshing floor, so will you offer it up. 21 Of the first of your ground meals you will give JEHOVAH a heave offering throughout your generations.
22 ‘If you sin unintentionally, and do not observe these commandments which JEHOVAH spoke to Moses— 23 everything JEHOVAH commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day JEHOVAH gave commandment and onward throughout your generations— 24 then it will happen, if it is unintentionally committed, without the knowledge of the congregation, the whole congregation will offer one young bull as a burnt offering, as a sweet aroma to JEHOVAH, with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one kid of the goats as a sin offering. 25 The priest will make atonement for the whole congregation of the children of Israel, and I will forgive them, for it was unintentional; they will bring their offering, an offering made by fire to JEHOVAH, and their sin offering before JEHOVAH, for their unintended sin. 26 I will forgive the whole congregation of the children of Israel and the stranger who dwells among them, because the people did it unintentionally. 27 If a person sins unintentionally, then he will bring a female goat in its first year as a sin offering. 28 The priest will make atonement for the person who sins unintentionally before JEHOVAH, to make atonement for him; and I will forgive him. 29 You will have one law for him who sins unintentionally, for him who is native-born among the children of Israel and for the stranger who dwells among them.
30 ‘But the person who does anything presumptuously, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one brings reproach on JEHOVAH, and I will him cut off from among his people. 31 Because he despised the word of JEHOVAH, and broke His commandment, that person will be cut off; his guilt will be upon him.’”
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Yeshuwa – Jesus
God’s character:
Judge
Lawgiver
Innocent until proven guilty is how those accused of a crime come before a judge. In most cases, the media and people already publish his guilt without firm evidence.
JEHOVAH told Moses to tell the people that if they sinned unintentionally, then they were to make an offering before Him, and the priest would atone for his sin. However, if his sin was intentional, JEHOVAH would cut him off from the people.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you recognized your sin. You didn’t know you were a sinner until you realized how bad you were in JEHOVAH’S eyes and confessed your sin. Then Yeshuwa’s blood covered you, and He saw you as not guilty and forgave you so you could live before Him in love and fellowship with other believers. However, if you knowingly sin and do not confess your sin, JEHOVAH will not forgive you.
Matthew 18:15 “Moreover, if your brother sins against you, go and tell him about his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 If he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. 18 Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Understand you are a sinner. JEHOVAH forgave your sin when you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord. When you confess your sin, JEHOVAH will forgive you. If you don’t, He can’t. He cannot forgive what you aren’t sorry about.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Theos.
You need forgiveness every day. Only when you ask Theos to forgive you, will you receive His forgiveness.
Let’s pray: Father, I am a sinner. Every day, I sin against You, knowingly or unknowingly. I ask You to forgive my sin, and make me right before You, so I can have fellowship with Your people again without fear of eternal separation from You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
