A rare escape and a big treat for me.

My belated gift for Mother's Day from my older son is a ticket to a James Taylor concert. I haven't been to a concert in some time, due to life and pandemic, and honestly there are not a lot of them I want to go to anymore. At many concerts people stand up for hours, and I can't do that. So for the most part, concerts are not on my agenda anymore.
Tonight, they are taking me to St. Louis to see the concert, then we will drive back to his home, which is a bit over 2 hours...then tomorrow I will go back home, which is 1 1/2 to 2 hours, depending on traffic, etc. I have someone checking on my younger son...so hopefully it's all good. I am looking forward to the concert and have been enjoying some family time.
I am feeling very spoiled!

You deserve time to yourself and I hope all goes well and do you have a chair you can take that is not heavy so you can sit at the concert and enjoy it?

It was very cool outside once the sun went down, we wore jackets and took some stadium blankets as well. I was glad not to have to sit on the cold ground. Thank you.

@MarieCoyle I am sure it did.
One day I'll be healthy enough and have enough money to go to another concert.

I have had to miss things in the past due to health issues, I do know how frustrating it can be.

I'm glad you're getting a break from the caregiver life. I'm glad your son is well enough you feel comfortable leaving him to his own devices with someone to check on him.

I know it takes a lot out of you...we do it because we love the person, but it is wonderful to get a break every once in a while. I know you really hang in there and I am sure George appreciates what you do.

I can relate to what you are going through since the artists that I grew up watching on television or listening to their songs on the radio have passed away and lack of money to see the shows not to mention that in the case of rap musicians, the fans have a bad habit of being on their feet and being rude.

@MarieCoyle I would enjoy seeing an artist who has been around a long time and sings beautiful songs.

My kids are so good to me. It means everything to have that. I try not to ever ask for anything as if I do, they go overboard! I know I am very fortunate to have them. Thank you.

It was truly a special evening. Even my daughter in law loved it, and she is mostly a big country music fan. Made a new nicer memory!

It was a short break, but a break of any length is needed at times.
Not really too much...I don't mind driving over to my sons and back, the interstate that branches of I 57 to go west to Springfield is a lot calmer for the most part than I 57 is, so I didn't mind that. I am familiar with all the routes and know my way around there, so it's all good.

What a great gift! JT is a nice mellow concert so not too much standing will be required I've seen James many years ago and he puts on a terrific show playing many of his favorites. His soothing voice and personality make for a great time...

What a wonderful belated Mother's Day gift from your older son! A ticket to a James Taylor concert sounds like a fantastic treat, especially after such a long break from live music. I completely understand your concerns about standing for hours at concerts—it's great that you'll get to enjoy this one without that worry.
The plan sounds like quite an adventure with a trip to St. Louis and then back, but it seems like you're well-prepared with someone checking on your younger son. I'm glad to hear you're looking forward to the concert and getting some quality family time. You deserve to feel spoiled—enjoy every moment!

I live in central Illinois, we have been making trips for years to St. Louis as it’s just a few hours away, so we are used to it. We had a wonderful time! Thank you for your kind words.

Judy, it was amazing. Just as good or better than it was when he started out. My sister and I both always enjoyed his music.
