Let’s Figure This Out

In the early hours at 3 AM which is the time I usually get up for a bathroom run, I came awake. I looked at the LED-lit clock I have by the bed. Now imagine a hand rolled up in a fist and knocking on something. I felt the first thump against the mattress from under the bed and then two more thumps. Like someone lying under the bed and thumping with a fist against the bottom of the mattress three times, And while reading this if you would ask then yes, I felt the mattress move up against my stomach. Well with all the craziness in this world, I feel the best in my cozy little apartment. So this did not scare me but it intrigued me, I tried to understand what had happened but after those three thumps nothing else happened. I got out of bed, went to the bathroom, checked the cats, gave them some more food, and returned to bed. Now when I think back I remember books I have read and movies I have seen that when something unusual happens it continues happening at the same time for a while, I will tell you that if it happens again at 3 AM I will turn on the ceiling light and hoping I can get up again I will get down on my hands and knees and take a look under the bed. It could not have been one of the cats during the night Freddie sleeps on the cat tree and Tish hangs out in the kitchen. Imagine feeling three thumps from under your bed.
