They are still working him hard in PT. He can go up and down the steps 3 or 4 times now. With assistance he should be able to make it into the house.
He still needs help getting in and out of bed; but he is getting stronger very slowly. He wants to get out of that place so bad because of his roommate. I am still hoping that he will be home by July 1.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts.

I hope so. You have to have a plan in place though for him coming home then. Like you may have to get something from a hospital supply store that will help him get out of bed. They have things. Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a home health aide at least initially. I would get prepared now..otherwise, if they do release him then..how is he to get out of bed at home?

@LindaOHio Can't you just keep the other chair as a spare like if company comes or something? The pop up chair makes the most sense..unless you want to keep paying the rehab bill.., or he suddenly becomes able to get in and out of soft chairs.

@snowy22315 We don't have room for an extra chair. I will mention the lift chair to him and see if he is interested. Thank you for your suggestion.

He sleeps in a recliner; so he will need to get in and out of that. We could get a chair lift; but we'd have to get rid of a good chair to do that. There's a lot of things to consider for sure.

I sometimes have trouble getting out of bed too: it's so nice and cosy.

@LindaOHio You could ask to the therapist if he thinks this could help.

Medicare will pay 80% of a lift chair, which should pretty much cover the cost of the recliner it would replace. We got one for my aunt, it made her life much easier.

Looks like he's motivated to get home. Hope that July date is the day he is able to come home. I"m sure you'll be happy when that happens

@LindaOHio I know that's a LONG time, cause my husband
was totally lost me being gone as long as I was in the hosp.
He didn't know what to expect where or where everyday
it was something new they were calling him about where
he was driving 100 miles damn near everyday to the hosp.

He has extra motivation now (getting out and away from his roommate), so I think getting out by July 1 will be a very real and attainable goal!

Having a lousy roommate will definitely provide extra motivation for wanting to get well enough to go home.

Yes. It will be 5 months that he's been gone. I feel like I've been cheated out of almost 1/2 year without my husband.
