It starts Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. This was the first movie that i saw from Swank, since she won an Oscar and Butler was a new handsome guy in Hollywood back then.
I remember watching this at the movies, later I found out it was based on a book, which I also read. The same author, Cecelia Ahern wrote the book that I had bought, Where Rainbows End and this novel had a movie adaptation as well.
Back to the movie. The plot is about the young widow, who lost her husband due to ilness but very soon starts getting his casette, then letters. She feels better by time but still attached to her memories and her friends feel left out.
Good thing is she visits the country where her husband is from and that is Ireland, she is an American. She enjoys there, meets another Irish fellow in a pub, an old friend from her husband. She also shares her journey with her 2 female friends but knowing later that one is pregnant and other is getting married, she doesn't feel ready to be a part of their lives cause their life moved on and her, well, it didn't.
As there are less letters, there is a guy that shows interest for her back in the States but she isn't ready. When she is and gives him a chance, she feels no chemistry with the guy, he as well. Later, till the end, she finds a love and a passion for her new job, making shoes. Her mum is a widow too, they find support in each other though, her mum didn't approve of her marriage cause she got married at a very young age.
So, the movie ends with her and her mum visiting Irealnd again and there were 2 handsome Irish fellows, one for her mum and one for her, the same guy she met when visiting Ireland for the first time.
It is a drama and a romantic comedy from 2007.
Have you watched it?
P.s. Gerard Butler is a Scottish actor, not Irish so watching him trying to act as Irish well, it wasn't persuasive but ok.
