Our village welcomes the latest residents

The lifestyle village where we live was built in seven stages. There was nothing much here when the Stage 1 and 2 were first developed, just a large area of sand and gravel. Everyone knew everyone else. Now there are 152 houses with paved roads, gardens and a nice clubhouse. And we don’t all know each other. Yesterday, the social committee invited everyone to an afternoon tea to welcome the Stage 6 people who, for some reason, moved in after Stage 7. The new people were invited to introduced themselves if they wanted to. Vince felt well enough to take some photos and in general it was a very pleasant afternoon. Those who attended took a small plate of afternoon tea and you can see the sumptuous spread we had in the photo.

You have found such a caring and social community to fully retire in. It sounds like such a wonderful way to meet the new 'neighbours' as well as for them to feel welcomed. Your social committee does a wonderful job involving everyone.

Lovely spread. What's in the red bottles? Ketchup or hot sauce? Everytime I see the words "lifestyle village" I think of that TV show The Prisoner...

It's ketchup in the bottles; mostly we call it tomato sauce. Do you mean the Australian show The Prisoner? I only ever saw a couple of episodes.

Your decision to shift to this place was indeed wise. You have so much out there to make yourself comfortable and those goodies on that table are inviting too (lol)

The main benefit really has been being so close to all the medical facilities we've been making use of.

Nice to know that you were engaged in the social activities. Here we are not social , we know very few people in our neighborhood. People have become less social here, now a days.

Two of our friends here knew very few in their neighbourhood before they moved here so people like that are very happy.

You have a very nice village where residents are very social. We find these gathering in apartments but residents have to contribute money for such gathering.

@JudyEv Good luck! That is gonna be a real adventure. I remember my mom trying to make them once when I was a kid. She never did it again. I guess maybe it was a failed experiment, or maybe they turned out OK, but not worth the trouble.. Maybe getting advice from the "cream puff maker" would be helpful.
