What summer time insect do you hate and fear the most?

I hate all of them really except fire flies, they are pretty neat. However, ticks I am really afraid of due to Lyme disease Rocky Mountain Spotted fever and long term problems. They are really prevalent here too due to all the trees. I have told this story on here before but when former roomie was a kid he was playing with his neighbor. The kid wanted to be tied to a tree..he later got ill and they took him to the ER. He ended up dying from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, as the doctor did not find the tick. It was hidden in his hair. Sometimes you don't even know if they have attached themselves and find them while you are taking a shower. Anytime I am in the yard I put on repellant in the summer.

That’s a truly terrible story. I hate ticks; you’d find them everywhere when we’d visit where my dad grew up. Spiders still freak me out heavily though. That’s just from being locked in a dark closet, and not being able to see the spider I knew was in there.

Why were you locked in a dark closet for goodness sakes? Did your sister do that? I shut my sis in a dark room a couple of times and held the door..but she wasn't locked in. I eventually took pity on her and let her out..

@snowy22315 It was a really mean babysitter. I should have told my parents, but I was so young I thought as long as she wasn’t hitting me she wasn’t doing anything wrong.

@AmbiePam I would have thought at least your sister would have told them.

@Chellezhere Yeah, they are yuk. Ladybugs aren't too bad though. I haven't seen any of them this year though. I guess that is you in your new short do.

@snowy22315 Oh yes and also those teeny tiny ants that can get in the kitchen. I think they are called sugar ants.

I am afraid of ticks because they cause Lyme disease, but now I also fear the Nile mosquitoes we have here because they can cause dengue. I am considering the new vaccine against mosquitoes.

Ticks are the worst in my opinion because they can do a!or ofdanage before you even know they are there. I got chiggers once in the summer too nd that was nasty. I couldn't wear shorts doe says. My legs were covered in bites. I hope that never happens again!

@snowy22315 We do not have chiggers, but Nile mosquitoes are becoming a serious problem. Every day I check not to have stagnant water around.

those are nasty. They are working their way north..I think they are in this area now. My sister got bit by those one time in Florida. Luckily, she was near a lake and ran right in.

@snowy22315 They are so evil. They form a chain or tiny island in floods and are so difficult and expensive to keep even partly at bay. Did your sister have a scar left?

@snowt22315 The kind of summer insect I most hate and fear is the kind that think it’s ok to play trash radio in their garden all day long at full volume. I have issues!!

Yeah, ticks are a pain. We have a lot here. Mosquitos are my least favorite. Another disease carrier.

My nephew got Lyme disease from a tick..and had some serious joint issues going on for awhile. He had a long course of antibiotics and is better now..back to normal I think.

We had kangaroo ticks in our Donnybrook property but no ticks here, thank goodness. There was a lot of heated debate a few years back about whether we had Lyme disease or not. I'm not sure what the outcome was.

Seems it would be known. It is generally carried by deer. You don't have those there..so probably isn't around.

Yes, and former roomie was a soft hearted and sensitive soul. I think that is something that has always haunted him..but he had no way of knowing what would transpire, and was a child himself.

This is such a sad story. My dad was bitten by a tick too. I don't like mosquitoes, I hate them because they make noise. I fear bats, but they aren't insects.
