Sir, You've Hit Rock Bottom

Well, we finally turned crushed aluminum cans in yesterday. Not a bad haul for this run at 65 cents per pound and roughly 100 pounds of cans—can I call this, "How myLot helped me to make another $65 today," or would I have to pay a royalty fee to our very own Horse fellow in these parts? In any event, it was kind of funny as we were waiting in line for our turn at the dock as we noticed a pickup truck loaded with junk metal across from us, apparently headed back to the scale, who had his hood up and was broke down. The truck looked like it could well have been headed for scrap, nonetheless. And as you would have guessed, the woman and the man in it were a rather "interesting" fare of folks as well. They played the part well, so to speak. She was yelling something at him from inside the cab, and he was outside fishing for something in the back telling her he was tired of hearing her mouth among other things complete with expletives. I should have fired up the camera on the phone. My wife quipped a caption for the image we were witnessing, "I know that spark plug is in here somewhere," as he fished for whatever it was he was fishing for, presumably to remedy his situation from the bed of his truck. I thought to myself, now that's when you KNOW you've hit rock bottom, when you are broke down in a junkyard.

Poor guy! Well done to bring the cans and get $ 65... they should also pay us here, we are obliged to separate cans and to drop in the "correct" container!

They have been offering money for cans for as long as I can remember. In fact, all scrap metal pays pretty well here. It is big business.

@porwest I remember when people made money in Italy with scraps of metal and paper. Here not only we are not paid, but we are fined if we do not "recycle"!

It is nice that these cans will be recycled. Too many recyclable things wind up in landfills.

Yeah. It really was. And the 65 cents we got this time was better than the 45 cents we got last time. Win, win.

There are certain rather obvious indications some people have not necessarily made the best choices in life. lol

Wow you get $.65 per pound?? The two yards here give $.35 and $.50. We have a ton of aluminum cans in the dining room. They are taking over the house. Our housekeeper always said that if my husband went into the hospital again (or rehab), that we would get rid of the cans. Still waiting. Have a good week.
