Can you have a birthday party without a cake?

Perhaps not! But that's exactly what we had last evening. Yesterday was my birthday and we celebrated it without a cake. Instead we had rosogollas ( a popular Bengali sweet) on the table. We live in a home for orphan children. Nine children live in my family. About thirty other children live in other three families. We in my family do have celebrations but we keep them simple. We live as frugally as possible. I bought 80 rosogollas to distribute to all children and guardians. Does happiness depend on a cake ? We had a birthday party without a cake and we went to bed happy.

You don't need a cake, but it sure is nice to have.

I stopped using cake because the number of the candles reminds me I am 39. I was like on my early 20s when I joined this site.

Happy Birthday !! We don't usually buy cake... Rasgolla or gulab jamun with mixture is enough for us

A very happy birthday to you. I know how hard you work there and how every penny counts. No way is cake necessary on a birthday. I'm sure you all enjoyed the rosogollas.

Definitely! How many birthdays have I had without a cake, and the celebration still goes on. But hey, having a cake certainly isn't a bad idea either! Belated happy birthday to you!
