No water logging in our yard

While constructing our house we saw to it that all the levels were taken into account in that the spot where the bouse was built did not hinder the flow of water during the monsoon season We also have compost pits where water gets collected and the waste is well prepared. Do you have water logging in your yard or around the building where you live?

Not where I live, it barely rains here, but it can rain a bunch sometime so its important to know where you are building. Smart you guys looked for all that stuff. We also on higher ground when it does rain a lot.

One needs to look at the water paths before locating the spot where to build the house. Good you are at a higher level

@allknowing Do you mean how you can water collect also because some of these places are so dry, use it when it over rains to the advantage or take it while you can get it.

No, the house was already built, but when we bought we created a system to collect rain water in water barrels in the garden and in a sunken cistern.

That is how it should be We have a well and have no issues with water but we have those pits that help drain water to the ground helping the reservoirs around.

@allknowing We thought that it was wise to preserve rain water and last year we needed that water for the garden.

Only in one or two spots out in the field. We are basically up a little hill, so not many low spots.

Interesting you have compost pits in that particular spot. What is the reason?

I have several compost pits. Water gets in there and the garbage gets matured.

If it stays in pits then it is good for reservoirs in the vicinity. Pits are actually recommended.

The drainage all works well around here. So it should. The houses aren't old at all.
