Tonight, Jay and I watched the movie, Gettysburg. It was a reenactment of the fighting that occurred within this nation for three years, during the Civil War. I believe the date these confederate soldiers reached Gettysburg, was in 1863. The battle became intense and violent. I couldn't watch parts of this movie, there was far too much killing. And those poor horses were scared to death. Some people might enjoy watching this movie, but it's not my idea of enjoyment. Photo: Mine

That is a rough, but honest movie, telling the history of the Civil War, which I learned a lot about in school and have many ancestors that were in that war because I live in Northern Virginia. The Battle of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania was July 1-3 1863.

@kobesbuddy Yes, but a lot of the slaves were treated good and enjoyed being slaves. There were some that were and are treated badly as well and that's the way it is with people working at their jobs (in stores, offices, businesses, etc) Students treated badly in schools and daycare. Treated badly by signifigant other's, spouses, other family members and supposed friends. Treated badly in public. But are we having a war about it? No

@kobesbuddy No it's not ok. But some slaves were treated really well and when the slaves were freed they wanted to stay .Land got left to them and more. Many years later I have had jobs and treated badly and other's treated very well. I have seen many classmates treated poorly by teachers and other classmates.I have worked in schools and seen kids and other employees treated poorly. I was treated mean by coworkers. My oldest boy was abused by teachers.

That entire war was so needless, but slavery was finally abolished, thank God!

I didn't watch this movie, however, in college I thought this one professor was the greatest and followed her taking all her classes. I took Literature of War and we read the book Fallen Angels that was the book the movie Gettysburg was based on. Fallen Angels was okay. It would be excellent if the person reading it liked reading historical books, especially about war. the writing style was excellent. i just don't like that subject matter Did I tell you Gettysburg was Daddy's favorite movie of all time? He also loved the music so we bought him for Father's Day (dating myself here) cassettes of every song in the movie. Since it was just the music we let him listen to it

Gettysburg is a terrifying movie, to me! Anything pertaining to war and people being shot and killed, I can't watch it:( I can't believe your father actually liked this movie:) Jay loves it! Any violence on TV, that doesn't bother him, one bit:( I get upset and have to go do something else

@kobesbuddy I feel the same as you. I can't take any violence. I want peace for everything. I don't remember the name of the show or even if it is still on, but Daddy used to watch one show that was so violent that Mommy insisted he go to their bedroom to watch it as he had a hearing problem and would listen to it with the TV too loud. When he watched TV in the living she could hear it in the kitchen which is where she spent the evening on her computer. Daddy would sometimes have nightmares from the violent shows he watched. I abhor violence so much that I only watch old comedies and cooking shows on TV. Have a good sleep and sweet dreams!

@LovesEverybody My friend Marilyn, she watched police series, CSI. They'd show victims or murder and torture, for all viewers to see a closeup! I couldn't look:(

I love historical things but now war movies; unless it follows a family or two and you can see how it affected them in daily life.

It was gruesome and too realistic, body parts being blow off.

I don't like when the horses in a movie are subjected to gunfire and explosions. They are much too skittish and must be terrified. I also don't like a movie with a lot of killing. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

War movies and the likes, I don't like any of them. Boxing, wrestling? Nope.
