7/15/24 - Update on My Husband

Went to visit my husband yesterday. He didn't get an opportunity to get out of bed. We brought him some Burger King burgers and fries which were gratefully accepted. It was really quite an annoying day for me. The chair I sat in was terribly uncomfortable, hubby's roommate's TV was too loud, my husband's 2nd cousin was too loud...most days I can't tolerate a lot of noise. I was glad to get out of there. My husband's 2nd cousin (our housekeeper's mother) has a Mini Pomeranian that is a service dog; and she brings him everywhere. He has now decided that I'm OK; and he likes to sit on my lap and get some pets. He's fun to be around especially since we no longer have any dogs. He goes to the rehab facility too; and all the residents just love him. I will call the Social Worker again today if I don't hear from her by noon. Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

You were exhausted staying there only a few hours, imagine your poor husband who is there for so long time with that loud TV on all the time. I wonder if they could at least move him to another room.

@MarieCoyle That would make sense, they should also buy those TVs that do not allow to get the volume too loud.

I think they should have headphones for every patient, so they don't have to listen to what they don't want to listen to.

That roommate should have at least turned down the TV while you visited. I love service dogs. Dogs in general, but service dogs are such a blessing.

My husband says that he has the volume turned up, then his "girlfriend" comes in and they start arguing. Way too much noise.

He needs out of that care less facility. I am glad the little dog brings everyone some joy. I am so used to mostly quiet here, I can imagine being in that situation. Yikes.

Laying in bed for an entire day, that's bad for your husband.

@kobesbuddy They need to get him dressed, put him in his wheelchair and let him "walk" the halls. I agree.

If only that rehab actually tried to help rehab your husband than maybe he'd be able to go home before August.

He needs to ask the aides to get him up during the day. If they refuse then complain

I'm sure you were happy to see your hubby but having to deal with the booming tv from the roommate and sitting on an uncomfortable chair certainly sounds frustrating. I feel bad that your hubby has to deal with that loud tv all the time

@Marilynda1225 We live a very quiet, boring (no drama) life. My husband's patience is running out with all the noise and confusion.

It does the residents a lot of good to get to be around pets. I have a friend who has 3 dogs that are therapy dogs, she goes to many nursing facilities with them, and the residents always want to know when she is coming back! Hopefully, if he has to stay in a facility, you can soon get him in a better place. Then when you get him out of there at last, maybe you can leave some fiercely worded reviews for them. I know I would be more than tempted to do that! I do hope he was in a good frame of mind for your visit.

When you go to visit him do you ask some 1 to help him get out of bed if he hasn't been out of bed for a few days? cause that's what hubby did when he came to visit me & that would be a help just for a hr or so.

@LindaOHio he may not be interested but you need to convince him the more he moves around the better he will get & the sooner he will get to come home.

There is such a big work up to the visits and then when things are as they are, the noise that he deals with, it must be so difficult and exhausting.
