When was the last time you had a scare?

I had a bit of a scare yesterday when I turned my AC on and it didn't appear to start up right away. I went to the vents though and they were cold, so I knew something was happening. I was wondering why it wasn't blowing though. Usually the whole system starts at once. 5 minutes later it was blowing though..so crisis averted. Hopefully, the unit will stay good for a while, at least make it through the summer when I most need it. What was your last scare?

Last summer we had an air conditioning issue with the air blowing out too. I did have to call an hvac guy. It was a simple fix and very inexpensive. Glad that yours is working.

Well, I am hoping this was a one time glitch. I would not be happy at all to have an AC guy in. Especially since they told me, they wouldn't be able to supply any major parts as the unit is old and most of them are no longer made..unless that was just a scam to try to sell a new unit. I don't know.

I bet that was scary as heck there. Did you have any damage?

@snowy22315 Not too much, but up to the day it was expected to arrive we were expecting a direct hit from her - a category 4. Thankfully she stayed 45 miles off the coast so the worst damage was done to the coastal towns. We lost a number of trees and banana plants but otherwise no other damage. The worst was the aftermath - no electricity, radio or phone service. After hurricane Gilbert, a cat 3 storm which hit us directly, 90 percent of the light poles were flattened. Three months before power was restored . That was hell unless you could afford a generator.

@Kandae11 Sadly, it seems the season is just getting started. I don't think we are going to get those 25 named storms or whatever the heck they were talking about a couple of months ago.

About a few weeks ago, the entire roof of the house was seen being lifted up and down by strong winds and at that time it was raining so hard that we had difficulty checking up.

OMG...that would be terrible. Several years ago there was a tornado here a tree fell and took out a portion of the roof. Another fell and knocked the heat pump off of its pad. A direct hit would have taken it out. Although maybe the insurance would have paid for a new one..oh well neither here nor there. Glad no one was hurt.

@snowy22315 here it may not be as big as a tornado but it is already scary, some areas even experienced quite serious damage.

I am afraid of wind, thunder, and lightning However, my therapist taught me yesterday how to take deep breaths and say "I am Safe" I tried it with her even though I wasn't really afraid of anything as it was beautiful outside but I still felt better and felt safer. I might try to go to the library next week even though it might storm. that is unheard of for me there is also the fear somebody is in my basement uninvited even though my sister put an aluminum step ladder in front of the door up against it so that somebody can get into the house. she says that will make a huge noise as our floor is cement. I have to work on both of those things with my breathing and statement

Batteries seem to be rather expensive. I have several around here..but not sure if they are good or not. I do have a battery tester though.

I remember that I fell asleep in the evening; and I was awakened to the sound of the alarm. I thought someone had broken into the house. The alarm company called the police; but I had to wait 35 MINUTES for someone to come. As it turns out, it was a glitch in the system. Have a good weekend.

Not really scary because I am used to visits from the world beyond but lately I have seen someone standing nearby from the corner of my eye and when I look they are not there, This is kind of spooking me because I want to know who it is and what they want, It is hard to describe like I am writing on my PC and I look at the laptop to the side where I am watching some game shows and I see someone by the tall bookshelf, They are pretty tall but by the time I fully face them their gone,

Two nights in a row we had severe thunderstorm warnings. My phone was blowing up with alerts and the tv kept interrupting programing with updates. It really made me anxious but the thought of the power going out and not having a/c scared me more than a tree falling on the house

About 7 minutes ago!!! I was counting noses...Petey was snoozing on the new sewing storage unit I was gifted with yesterday, but Freya the Siamese was missing. I was frantic!!!! Neither cat is allowed outside because of the 4 lanes of traffic. Our street is like a freeway at times with speeds exceeding 65 mph. I searched everywhere and couldn't find the fiend. I figured she snuck out behind me when I went out to feed the outside cats. I was sick to say the least. I dug out a flashlight and searched my closets, under the bed, her hiding spots at the bottom of the bookcases... I wanted to sit and cry. I even checked the refrigerator!!! When she heard the refrigerator door open she jumped down. It was the only place I didn't think to look!!! Needless to say I was beyond THRILLED!!!! I tried to gather her in my arms and hug her, but I guess she thought I was angry at her because she headed for the bedroom as fast as she could so she could hide under the bed. I caught her before she could get under the bed and hugged her close and told her she wasn't in trouble that she just had me worried and that I loved her tons and tons and didn't want anything to happen to her. When I said that she settled down and relaxed and purred. I hugged her some more and then she let me know she wanted to go into the window and watch outside, so I hugged her one more time and let her go. (after I told her and Petey how much I loved them!!!) I thought my was going to stop from the worry that Freya may have gotten out, although the neighbors would have brought her back.

The last time I was scared when my purse was missing after a travel! Checked in house and no where to be found and then suddenly thought of checking in car. The purse was later found in the car. My cards and driving licence were in the purse .I was scared of now getting the duplicate cards and things. Luckily, saved on that day. Interesting to hear your incident. Thanks for sharing!
