18 July - What I'm Thankful for Today

I surprised myself just now by searching out the date on the computer. Duh, I know what day this is. Good afternoon from sunny, pleasant Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. It's a pleasant 74 F with a pleasant breeze. So, what have I been thankful for this year? It's been a wonderful year of God's amazing blessings. I have a wonderful son with an amazing girlfriend. They've been there for me when I needed them 99% of the time. I'm thankful for my daughter who called unexpectedly several times this year. Our relationship gets better all the time. I'm thankful for the friends I've made in the building. We have our problems, but we are a family here and they genuinely care about each other. I'm thankful my finances are in good shape. There have been so many years when I didn't know how the bills would get paid. They always did, but it always amazed me when they did. Now, I don't worry. I'm not well off. I'm on government aide, but I have enough for everything I need. I'm thankful for my health. It's rare when I get sick. I have health issues, but they aren't serious. I'm thankful for a doctor who knew what the problem was when an ER doctor misdiagnosed me a few weeks ago. I'm thankful for the gift of writing God gave me when I was a child. I have nine books published. And though I didn't publish one this year, I'm working on two I hope I'll publish early in 2025. I'm thankful for the small pleasures I see every day. The trail never disappoints as I see deer, geese, cardinals, ducks, and even a blue jay one day as I walked the trail. I also saw a baby turtle one day. I hadn't seen a turtle since I was a kid. I took a picture of it and sent it to my daughter who loves turtles. She sees a lot of them in Austin, Texas. I'm thankful for people who help me get where I need to go when I need to go shopping, to the pool, get my hair done, and many things to help me get around. I'm thankful I got rid of my car this year. It stopped running. I donated it to an organization that fixes them and resells them. My little car sold for $800. It made me happy. I'm thankful for the many friends I have here on myLot. I continue to make new friends and learn what it's like in your part of the world. You're special to me and I thank you for being my friends.
