Why would you do that?

Does your partner have an annoying habit – or maybe several?
Of course we all have our little habits and often they can be irritating to others, I’m certainly not saying I’m perfect. And I’m not talking about the big things that would drive you to seek a divorce, but just little everyday actions that make you want to say “Why would you do that?!” (Incidentally, that’s my partner’s favourite exclamation!)
My partner’s annoying little habit is to not quite do things properly. For example when putting on new pillow-cases he will always push three of the pillow corners into the corners of the case, but leave the fourth sticking out. I mean why would you do that? If you’re going to do something you may as well do it properly, it’s not that hard.
It’s got to the point now that I’m sure he does it on purpose to wind me up!
He will also not-quite-completely open packets. Like today he started a new pack of coffee which he opened by cutting off the top – but not quite completely! He has left about 2mm still attached. That means the part that’s almost cut off springs back into position so when you withdraw a spoon from the packet, half the contents get knocked off and spill everywhere. And anyway you can’t quite open the packet fully as the corners are still held together on one side. Why would you do that? I simply can’t think of any advantage to keeping that bit of the pack still attached!
As for what annoys him; well he does get quite irrationally irritated when any of us hangs an item such as a towel over the washing line so that it hangs down on both sides, rather than pegging it by one edge, as he’s convinced (without any evidence) that it will take much longer to dry that way.
So what little habits annoy you?

@fleura I’m totally with him about that hanging washing thing on the clothes line - he’s correct. On the odd occasion when my wife hangs out the washing I usually go and re-do it. She really does not know how to do it correctly. She even doesn’t care if socks aren’t hung up in pairs!!!! And nothing is hung straight, it’s all lopsided, and as for the drying of shirts … less said the better.

I really want to do a proper test, but it's hard to get two identical towels with exactly the same amount of wetness (is that even a word?) hung in exactly the same conditions (what if a shadow fell on one?) - and how would we measure dryness anyway?
I tend to re-hang the washing too. He likes to hang garments upside down. I don't care what he does with his but I don't like it when he does that with my clothes, it makes all the labels stick up, the collars don't lie right, and the pockets all dry in weird positions!

Vince rarely puts things away - or he might put some away but leave just one thing out. He makes toast but rarely puts the butter back in the fridge. Shirts or trousers he intends to wear again just get flung on the hanger affair at the end of the bed. I don't really expect him to hang them up and he could lay them out a bit so they won't crease so much. Oh - I've thought of another (I'm on a roll now!) he never notices if he has marks on a jumper or if his jeans are frayed. He still wears them when he goes out. It's like I need to check him over before he goes out the door.

My partner's pretty good at putting things away but my daughters are not, especially Little One. She gets things out to make her breakfast then just leaves them all for the 'staff' to deal with. And if she uses the last of something she loves to just leave the empty packet there

Huh? THAT annoys me. I once dated a guy, who every time we were together, at least twice during that period I’d say something, he’d say huh, then answer my question without me having to repeat myself. He clearly heard what I said, but he’d hit me with a long, drawn out, “Huuuh?”

What annoys me the most is when someone keeps their shoes, sandals anywhere

My husband insists on complete silence when he's speaking. If I try to interject a comment, he gets really angry and says "Don't interrupt me!". It's the only thing we really fight about. Have a good weekend.

Yes, I do think he does it deliberately to annoy you. Smack him upside the head with a 2x4!
