Incense sticks. Do you like them or they are too much for you?

The other day, don't ask me which day cause I don't have a clue, I felt incense sticks' smell from one laundry machine shop. I didn't see them but i sensed someone burned them. It was a nice smell and it reminded me when i used these sticks. I think I had Indian ones in the past. I mean, I bought them in Indian shop and it said they were from India. I even had a cool holder for them with two elephants facing each other. That was when i was in high school, senior year and one ordinary day, the holder fell from my room's window, which was on the first floor and it crushed to the ground in half. Too bad. I must say, at first, incense sticks smelled too strong for me but by time, i got used to them also, i realised there are less intense scents as well. What do you think? P.s. an online photo, not mine

I used to use incense, etc. back in the 60s and 70s; but now any strong smell stuffs me up and gives me a headache. Have a good day.

@grenery8 Thank you very much. Yes, they were definitely during the hippie period. A store called Spencer's Gifts had tons of incense burners, etc.

There was a time during college when I used to buy incense. My friend got me into them . . . I preferred the fruity smelling kind the most. Eventually I realized strong smells gave me headaches (not just incense, but lotions and other scented products). These days, we often go fragrance free on everything if we can.

i think i had that phase as well but for incense, i was hardly finding some fruit scent, maybe lemon, not sure. yes, these days i am also comfortable by neutral scents.

@grenery8 I think there were strong, sickeningly sweet ones like strawberry, peach, cherry, etc. I seem to recall the cone shapes ones too without the stick. I actually have a bad sense of smell, but somehow the incense get to me.

i also feel sometimes suffocated by them. i like smelling them from the distance; that's what i concluded.

I usually find them too strong but if they're burning you do get used to them.

from the distance, they are okay. once, i burned them beside me while i was napping and i thought i will suffocate myself; it was really intense.

It depends on the scent. I generally like citrus scents and sandalwood.

@grenery8 it's just that the real sandalwood is very expensive.

I have a little pink cowboy incense holder, and a tiny, cute turtle incense holder. Unfortunately, I don’t use them anymore. There was a four month time I was incense crazy, but suddenly every kind I used made my eyes itch. So, I had to quit. I stick with soy candles now.

I can't use them because I have cats. These can affect them.
