Dear lotters. If you want to eat a delicious cake made of meringue and lúcuma (eggfruit) you will have to come to my country or to Perú or Bolivia. Fortunatly the fruit is not exported so we can eat it at a reasonable price. Decades ago, we had a lot of seafood in our Pacific Ocean. But other people from other countries craved for them and brought giant ships to take them away. Now the only seafood we have at a reasonable price are the mussels because it seems that other countries are not as interested in them although here we can buy tins with hot mussels, smoked mussels, you ask it and the´ve got it. Now I´m keeping my fingers crossed that we won´t sell our eggfruit. I love eggfruit ice cream, eggfruit cake and I even make my iced coffee with it. The shopper just called me. I´ll have a second breakfast with cake.

that is good actually, great. if countries would only import, what is the point. it is perhaps cheapier but there are so many cons.

We have lots of grapes and avocados. But we, Chilean, cannot buy them now. They have become too expensive. There should be a way of saving a percentage for the people who live in the country. But the supermarkets won´t hear of it.

@grenery8 And nobody gains. I have bought Chilean fruits in Europe and as they are picked green, they are not good at all.

Hoarding all that seafood in ships, that sounds evil because it is! Now, you are left with mussels Sorry! I've never eaten eggfruit, I'd love to try it some day:)

Yeares ago, huge ships fished ton of fish until they left our Ocean bare. They turned the fish into ground fish flour for chicken food. Those ships fished big AND small fish so they destroyed the native wildlife.

@marguicha The same think happened with Tawas Lake. We used to catch all kinds of pan fish, bluegills, perch, bass, sunfish. Then somebody decided to plant wild rice in the lake. Now, it's overgrown with wild rice and lily-pads, almost impossible for a small boat to navigate! It looks more like a swamp:(

@marguicha The wild rice in Tawas Lake, there's barely enough space with water, for fishing boats!

I have never heard about eggfruit, When I lived in Latvia because it is by the Baltic Sea you could get all kinds of fish but shellfish was terribly expensive. Now I have not ordered any kind of seafood in a long time due to the expense, I could probably get some frozen like shrimp but I don't know how they would taste,

I haven't had eggfruit very often and never in cake or ice-cream. Sounds different but good.

I've never heard of eggfruit. It's too bad that all you have left are mussels. We get crab, lobster, scallops, clam strips, etc. at our Red Lobster restaurant. Have a good day.
