Massive rain dump + what's for dinner

We all loved the miso soup that I made last night. It's my first time to make real miso soup. (We've always had the instant kind.) There are many ways to make miso soup using a variety of ingredients. I wanted to make the more popular/traditional one that we often get from here and that's the tofu and wakame seaweed miso soup. I used soybean paste that already has the dashi stock so I wouldn't have to boil and strain bonito flakes to make stock. (Though I'm willing to try that next time.) I'm not making any soup for dinner tonight. I'm a bit under the weather, and I want to make something quick. I took out from the freezer this marinated chicken that I prepared a few days ago. I prepared way too much so I split the chicken pieces into two batches. It's always good to have something like this in the freezer 'cause they're life savers when you don't have the energy to make a feast. I marinated the chicken in soy sauce, calamansi (local lime), salt, pepper and garlic powder. I just need to fry them. I'm also going to make stir-fry mushroom and Chinese cabbage. My phone just got an alert from our disaster bureau about a red rainfall warning. Red means we're getting a massive rain dump. We've been drenched for like 3 days already and floods are everywhere. Cars are floating in waters and houses are submerged. We are safe where we are, but people are stranded in many places. It's 5:22 p.m. Thinking of lying down for a bit before I go make dinner. I've taken antihistamine so I'd stop sneezing. I hope this doesn't progress into a cold. See you all in a bit.

That is accurate; eating during this type of weather is kind of nice, especially if you are safe inside your home and are unable to leave due to the weather.

I wish I'd stocked up on more vegetables and other ingredients. I didn't think the rains would last this long. I tried food delivery earlier, but Food Panda had to cancel because the surroundings streets were impassable, and no driver was available. I ended up making hotdog "silog" for lunch. I'll see if I could have groceries delivered tomorrow. How's your area?

Also, you were practically safe; the rain did not cause much damage, and no floods came close to my house. Food is scarce, however, because most stores have not replenished their inventory due to the rains, which have prevented deliveries. As a result, farm-fresh meat and vegetables are difficult to come by.

@rsa101 It was such a relief to be able to go to a produce shop and buy something fresh.

I love miso soup! So delicious! I'm sorry to hear about all the rain you are getting, but happy to know you are safe where you are. It's raining here currently, but nothing bad that will cause flooding and damage.

Good to know you've got rains. It's been really hot in some parts of the US. I made another batch of miso soup yesterday because there's a small block of soft tofu left in the fridge and it's been there for days. I also finally got to empty this pack of wakame seaweed that I got early this year. I'll make a different kind of miso soup next time, maybe something with daikon and carrots.

We're safe, thanks. I've been quite lethargic today because of my heavy period. I hope to regain my energy in the next few days.
