So, about 20 years ago,(in another lifetime) Friend and I went to Ireland. It was a fun trip and one of the places we visited was the Waterford Crystal Factory. Everything was pretty expensive there, but I managed to spring for a candy dish.Well it could be a small serving bowl as well, but I like it as a candy dish. It always has wrapped candy in it, so it doesn't get washed very often. I put it in the dishwasher..and wow is that thing ever gleaming. It looks like a commercial for dishwasher detergent or something. That is one thing I really love about dishwashers..things get so clean you can practically see your face in the dishes. Have you ever been super impressed by how clean something you put in the dish washer got?

My Aunts visited Ireland and Scotland years back. My father's family was from Scotland. We had a dish washer, the dishes were washed in boiling hot water. They were extra clean.

I don't use a dishwasher, so is it the detergent used?

Maybe, and the rinse aid helps too. I have the Walmart brand now. It is actually pretty good.

I have recently started using a rinse aid in my dishwasher, and ever since I started adding that I noticed how much nicer the dishes look when they come out of the dishwasher. Like you said, so shiny you can see your face!

@moffittjc Yes, most dishwashers when you buy one come with a small starter bottle of it.

I always use rinse aid. Once you fill up the little dispenser in there it lasts a very long time. It's inexpensive to buy too.

@snowy22315 I’m going to start using the rinse aid from now on. It’s really made a difference in the quality of the cleanliness of the dishes. And you’re right, it is very inexpensive.

It was cool. If I get to go back to Ireland again someday though it will be Northern Ireland. One thing that was fantastic about the tour we were on though was visiting a miniature horse farm. If I had a grand I would get a miniature horse for them.

@snowy22315 I had a miniature horse at one time. He was a handful and I eventually sold his ornery self.

The first time I washed drinking glasses in the dish-washer I was amazed. As you say, they really gleam. We visited Waterford Crystal when we were there. Here is our friend inspecting some glassware. Can you pick which one is our friend and which the wax model? Actually, it's pretty simple but the model was very well done.

I don't have a dishwasher. My sister wanted to redo the kitchen for me and put in a dishwasher but I don't want to use that much water. I can wash the dishes using less water. I am trying to lower my water bill You mentioned using Walmart brand rinse aid. Currently, I am using a Walmart brand of dish detergent. I believe it is the Walmart equivalent of Dawn Detergent as it is blue and has the Dawn scent

That is a fallacy that dishwashers use more water. They actually use less than hand washing. I am almost out of the Walmart ones. I bought some other generics at Dollar Tree, which I think I have had before I don't think they do a great job, but we will see.

@LovesEverybody It keeps recyling the water within the unit. I rarely shop at CVS most of their prices are high in there, and the store seems over crowded to me.

@snowy22315 What about when the dishwasher runs for 2 hours? does it still use less water? My aunt claims her dishwasher runs for 2 hours. I assumed it would use more water then. My sister told me the same thing about the amount of water a dishwasher uses I have not been to the Dollar Tree in a few years. I dislike their new policy of raising the prices I don't always buy the Walmart brand. I go to Dollar General as it is on our way to the library. I mostly buy Brillo Brand dish detergent. I have a bottle on the kitchen sink waiting for when I need it. I get it in the discount aisle of CVS. I often have extra books I could use towards anything in the store. today I got $2 off anything in the store on my next trip

Yes, a pan that looked like it has been burned beyond reason. I thought there was no way it would ever be clean again. I’m glad to hear it came out looking so well.

Sometimes they can really do well with that kind of thing. I like this DW so much better than the previous one. The filter is a cinch. The last one the filter gave me problems.

I wish that I could remember Ireland. I was a baby when we went there. I’d love to go back.
