Someone dropped to say Hello....

Good afternoon from this side of the planet. It's 2:30 PM here. I came back from work at 1 and had my lunch. I took a short nap of an hour and feeling fresh and energized now. I had to catch up with my sleep. I was awake past 11 last night doing some work related stuff online. So, who came to say Hello today? It was the sun. I was happy to see a sunny sky in the morning after a long gap of more than two weeks. I missed the sun rise because it was cloudy early in the morning. I enjoyed my walk to the work in the lovely sunshine . But it was very short lived. While in the class, I could hear the pit pat patter of raindrops. Yes, rain and clouds are back. It rained for a while and it's another gloomy day. Who else dropped by to say Hello today? It's this bird in the picture. She came to the window when I was having the session with my 5th Grader Autistic child. He was excited to see the bird. But he didn't scream( his usual way to show his anger/ excitement/ nervousness). I told him that he might scare the bird away. And he was in the best behaviour today. . But he was so excited that to bring back his attention, I had to change the lesson plan and make it around birds. So, we learnt spellings for few bird names. Tried drawing one and write the parts of the body. Well, my profession has taught me to be flexible and bring these on the spot changes from time to time to keep the child attentive. He wanted to know the name of the bird. And I googled with the picture. It's Yellow spectacled white eye bird. It's a common visitor in my terrace garden. I was happy to see it in my class today. And it was there for almost 20 minutes. Hope all is well in your myLot corner. Take care

I'm glad you saw the sun this morning. I'm glad the bird visited your classroom today and your student didn't scare it away. Flexible is good. I'm glad you could change the lesson to one about birds.

@arunima25 I hope the sun will stay a whole day soon. I'm glad the bird stayed for a long time. It's good to be flexible.

@just4him We are getting a little bit of sun everyday since then. But then rain and clouds for most part of the day. We would love to have a full day of sun for few days. It would be good to have a break from gloomy and damp weather.

I wish the sun could stay for the whole day. But anyways, it was a breakthrough for some time. This little cute visitor entertained us well with long stay. As a special educator, we have to be flexible. We have a lesson plan but many a times it doesn't go well with neurodiverse children.

We are getting little bit of sun everyday but for very short time. We won't mind few days of good sun. The weather is good, but it's gloomy and damp. I wish I could send some rain your way. I hope that you get some good rain soon

It was indeed a very cute visitor . I am glad that my student was well behaved through out. He is a very sensitive child but not able to control over his natural impulse to scream( that's very natural for Autism). Happy to see that he could control it. Must have been tough for him

I would be happy if he comes again or joins my classes every day. He was a very well behaved one and didn't disturb the class at all. No chirping to disturb the child who was with me. They both were respectful to each other

Thank you. Being a special educator, flexibility is a strength. We do have lesson plans but then we have to go with the mood of the child from time to time. Flexibility helps. This visitor entertained us for the whole session. And I was so thrilled to see that my student could actually control his impulse for this little one. It was so sweet.

We are happy that the last two days were sunny. At least we had bright sun in the day time. It rained in the evening and night. I am happy with this kind of arrangement between rain and sun . We had continuous gloomy days for whole month. It was annoying.

That's a great way to entice a child to learn a few things. Structure it around something he is interested in. It's a pretty little bird.

Thank you Judy. Being a special educator, we have to be open to so many things. Things don't always go as per the plan. Flexibility helps a lot. . They are frequent visitors to my terrace garden, but I never had them for my class. It seems to be interested in learning.

A sunny day lifts my spirits while grey, gloomy days are a downer for me. The bird seems to be listening intently to what you are saying.

It has been more than two weeks that we got sun. Today I was excited to see some sunshine but it didn't stay for too long. It's back to being gloomy. This little bird entertained us for the whole session. And it was a pleasant surprise to see how sensitive my student was and how well he could control his impulse for this little visitor.
