I will sleep well tonight. I hope you do too.

One of the most soothing sounds in my house is the dishwasher running. I just hobbled to my kitchen and put the dishes in. My lessons went well today. My 14-year-old guitar student, who has been with me since she was twelve, was particularly rewarding. She wanted to learn a song called Hotel California by an American band called The Eagles. I like The Eagles's early work, but Hotel California is not among my favorite Eagles songs. But I was able to teach it to her. She is of Russian ancestry and does not smile a lot. But I think I saw her smile today as we were working on the song. I'll take it. I am easy to please.

She is a solid student. I hope she remembers me when I am among the daisies.

@TheHorse No. I have a couple hours yet. I still have one tube feed to do, but George is working on some hotdogs. So I likely won't try to do his tube until two A.M. unless he asks me to do it sooner.

@kaylachan Does the tube feed supplement what he eats regularly?

I like the dishwasher sound as it means it's a chore not having to be done by me . It's super exciting to learn a song of your choice rather than an unfamiliar one picked by the instructor . . . or at least that's the way it was for me. Will she get to learn the guitar solo part ?

I think I'll be able to teacher at least some of the solo part if she's interested.

Some cultures do have a very solemn outlook it seems. I'm glad your student smiled. Perhaps there will be more of them in the future.

I hope so. I told her I enjoyed the fact that she brought her own sing in, and I let her know I'd be delighted is she continued to do the same.

Our dishwasher is still fairly new, and half the time I don't even know it's on. Our old one sounded like a train was running through the house.

@TheHorse Soothing would not be a word I would use to describe such noise, but hey, if it floats your boat, who am I to judge?

Maybe you will see more smiles as she learns more. Feeling like you've accomplished something is a great reason to smile.

I think it's the only Eagles song I've ever heard. And congrats for making the Russian girl smile, I remember you were kinda concerned about her "poker face" a while back.

Good memory! Yes, I think Anna reassured me that Russians are not known for gratuitous smiling.

It's good to teach kids the songs they are interested in learning to play. I'm glad you got a tiny smile.
