Do we still need landline phones?

India

With advent of smartphones and VOIP, landlines have started becoming uncommon. Unlike smartphones, landline phones can still provide a sttable and reliable connection even in poor mobile coverage areas. They also do not need cellular networks or power and can be wonderfully useful during emergencies. There are also few who prefer the simple anc lear call quality and love landlines. So, do you still have a landline phone at home or office?

We don’t have a landline. I’m sure in a weather crisis it would be good to have one but we decided to give up that one bill

We haven't had a landline in years. However my mother and mother in law do still rely on their landlines. They both have smartphones but use it minimally. They use it for no other function other than just calling. This advanced technology is too much for them and they prefer the good old fashioned landlines.

We haven't had one in years. Don't really need it at this point. My husband and I both have phones. Our kids have devices that they can use to reach us and vice versa. We have one at the clinic I work at but that's about it.

It's useless for us to have a landline telephone at home because all the cables have been cut off since the advent of digital, now everyone has switched to more sophisticated equipment.
