It was my medication review day today. My Mum decided she was coming with me. We set of at 11:50am. My review was at 12:40pm, so we thought that would give us plenty of time to get there. But my Mum walks so slow, even with her walker. I had to keep stopping for her to catch up! Then when we got to this one road we had to cross there was this truck driver, well it was like a large trailer thing, I don't know what you'd call it. Well he had stopped and he was checking his tyres or something, but his truck or whatever was blocking my view of the traffic that was coming. I had to cross into the middle of the road to look and see if anything was coming. Then when I'd crossed the road, I had to wait for my Mum to cross..
We were coming up towards Aldi and I waited for my Mum to catch up again. I told her we'd got 10 minutes to get there! I decided I'd have to just make my way there quickly and just let my Mum catch up.
It was 12:42pm when I joined the end of the queue. If you have an appointment you're supposed to check in via a big screen, but I don't really like doing that. But if you're late, even by 1 second, it won't work. So I stayed in the queue, which was very long. My Mum came up behind me. And I waited. And waited. We were waiting in the queue for 15 minutes!
Then when I did manage to get to the desk and told her I was here for my medication review she said I should check in by the big screen. And I said, Well, I'm a bit late. She checked on her computer and said, Oh, 12:40, you are a bit late! I think you've missed it, she said. She said she'd go and check with the nurse to see if she could fit me in, but she came back and said I'd have to rebook it because the nurse had got a full quota or whatever. So I had to go to the desk and rebook it. Now I've got to go on Friday at 10:10am! My Mum tried to book hers in to but they said they haven't got a blood test form on the computer for her yet, and she needs to book it just after her birthday!
So we went out and we went to Aldi, which is across the road and next to the big Tesco. I saw that they had some kombucha, so I got some of that. My Mum got 2 lots of strawberries because they were so cheap. We had a good look round. My Mum got some kitchen roll, some alternatives to pringles because they were cheaper, and some soy milk with no sugars for me, but a different brand than I usually have. Then we went to pay. I still prefer Tesco!
We came outside and started to make our way home. But Mum was walking too slow, and my sock and shoe were starting to rub me, so I came home as quick as I could and took my socks and shoes off.
I got home at 2:45pm. I had a banana and a packet of mini cheddars for my (late) lunch, and I've got a smoothie to drink. My Mum has only just got home. She got home at 3:15pm!
When I go for my review on Friday, I'm going on my own! Then I'm going shopping down town afterwards.
I hope you are all well.
I hope you are having a better day than I am!

What is the purpose of a medication review? This is something that is not done in the States except during a regular appointment or over the phone. Have a good day.

It's to check I'm on the right dosage for my medication. I have a blood test and it tells them how my thyroid is working. If it's working OK I'm on the right dosage.

@LindaOHio Well, we'll find out. I've rebooked it now for Friday, and I'll make sure I'm not late!

@sharonelton Getting a doctor's appointment is so complicated now. I forget what I did today other than go to the supermarket to buy food. And I cooked dinner - made a cottage pie.

Yes, it is. I'm glad I could book up a new appointment there and then.
I hope you got everything you needed when you went to the supermarket.
I hope you enjoyed your cottage pie - if that is indeed what you had!

@sharonelton Yes, it was cottage pie, and there was enough to do tonight as well. My big adventure tomorrow is to get my hair cut which, as far as I'm concerned, is a procedure as distressing as passing a kidney stone.

@xFiacre Good. I'm glad you enjoyed your cottage pie.
I don't like having my hair cut either!

I guess you better figure on taking extra time when you are with mom.

We thought we'd left enough time to get there - but obviously not! You're right, we'd better do that!
