Rugged, Rugby Women

I was never a fan of contact sports, especially those which can cause serious injury to the body - boxing, football and rugby among others. So l was watching the Olympics a couple days ago and saw women playing rugby. Immediately my mind flashed to a century or two ago when women in long dresses played croquet on nicely manicured lawns. Of course women have been playing rugby since the late 19th century. The first recorded women's match took place in 1887. How l would love to know what sporting outfit was worn then. I can't imagine women tackling each other wearing long cumbersome dresses. Question is do you think dangerous contact sports should be left to the men? The most common injury for women in rugby would be concussion. Would you play football or rugby? Men too can answer these questions.

women can be included in hard sports events if they are able, maybe this is what is proposed by feminists for women's emancipation. but it's like let the men do the action, I'm also afraid that if women participate in hard sports like that, they could get injured. but even so, they participate because of their own desire, right?

I would not play it. I would be useless for starters.

Some women like the Extreme Sports, want to test their limitation, that's how they achieve their dream and transcend themselves.I guess it's their freedom, wish them have fun and don't get injured.

If it is what they like doing then they should go ahead and do it. We have one life to live on this earth.

I've seen a bit of the rugby matches by the men and women. It can be fierce. I know I wouldn't play the sport. Good luck to the teams in the Olympics.

I don't play these and have never played them. I think men and women rung big risks playing these sports, especially as regards concussion. It looks a very rough game judging by the Olympics.

If women want to play I'd let them. Have to admit the only sport I watch is cycling

It's a tough sport, but is really the decision of the player

I don't see where it should be left to men. Speaking as a woman who has always been a part of what they still deem, "a man's world". I have fought for my place in it and I'm proud of it. They are split up into men and women for a reason, to keep it equal and I can agree with that.

There are some areas in which l will happily forego equality.

@Kandae11 It's a pet peeve of mine when someone says that you can't or shouldn't do something because you're a woman. I'm a volunteer firefighter and have grown up around men all my life. Just because I'm a female doesn't mean much to me.

@JordanLader When l was a child l wanted to be a law enforcement officer. Then l grew up and wondered how l could have even imagined a job like that. I ended up being a reporter in the print media. I do not want to be able to do everything men do, especially physical stuff. I can prove my ability in the boardroom and many ways which l choose.
