The big news about the US around the world today is the release of Americans held in Russian jails on trump up charges of espionage. Supposedly the biggest prisoner swap since the cold war.
President Biden, surrounded by the families of the American prisoners made the announcement at the White house.
The timing of the exchange could not have been coincidental.
The Democratic campaign of Kamala will obviously make the most of this event to highlight the difference between the Biden administration and Trump's.
Trump was not able to get their release despite his boast about how close he was to Putin.
It put to the lie Trump's accusation of a "do nothing" Biden.
Rats will abandon a sinking ship.
The groundswell of grassroot support and enthusiasm to Kamala's bid for the presidency could not have gone unnoticed by Putin.
Trump: "Russia, Russia are you listening?"
Putin: "Wrong number"

I believe that the US presidential race will be an uphill battle for Democrats, given the current biden administration's low morale. I hope Kamala can help Democrats improve their image, as they need to show some strength in their efforts to improve the administration's image from where it is now.

@josie Of course, it will be interesting to see how the US chooses its candidates for the upcoming elections. As they have long been defenders of democracy, I hope they make judicious decisions. If they tarnish this reputation with unscrupulous politics, it will be disastrous for the entire world to see.

@josie_ Honestly, I hadn't thought that much about Putin throwing Trump under the bus because he's no longer useful. I wonder when we'll learn more details about how he (Putin) helped Trump "win" the 2016 election. I'll be in my Platinum Years by then.

He knows that Trump isn't even a useful idiot anymore. Why else would he humiliate Trump like this?

Isn't it the Biden administration together with European allies who continue to support the Ukrainian's effort to drive out the Russian invaders? Why would the incoming Kamala administration be any different?
Putin realize Trump will soon be in the dustbin of history. The prisoner swap was a kind of olive branch. In geo-politics there are no permanent friends or enemies, only common interests. Putin is just being a realist.

@xander6464 ~ Is that an admission on your part that Trump is an idiot? A majority of those who used to work for him think so. Sadly his Maga fan base still think he is the greatest thing since Jesus Christ that ever happen in their lives.

This is certainly good news for the Biden administration. We need someone who knows how to tread those waters
