Debby and the Pond

Tropical storm Debby came through last night. It rained so hard that the pond was overflowing and much larger than usual. I see damage along the bank but some big birds defied the wind and the water. They reminded me of kids surfing with a storm going on.
We were afraid it would get in the house which would not be good.
This morning, the pond was almost normal size. Now it is raining pretty hard. The weather guy predicted 12 hours of rain. If that happens, we might be playing with buckets and mops. Floods are not my favorite thing.

That is a huge amount of rain !
You would need a lot of buckets and mops in such a case.
I hope that water doesn't enters thd house.
We had very few heavy rains this season.
Yet terrible road jams and Waterlogging were there as a result of those few, concentrated heavy rains.

Thanks. Like many other days, it was very cloudy today.
Yet we did not experience rains.
This has happened many a times during the last few weeks.

That's really something to worry about. Rain water entered my house in 2018 and we had a difficult time cleaning the dirty water after the rains.

I know the feeling. I got water in my place in the park. It came under the wall when it rained hard. Once, I had three inches of water in my living room. I never want to have that experience again. Once is enough. I put the shop vac to work sucking up water and dumping it outside.
I'm sorry to hear that you had a flood. I hope it never happens again to anyone.

@akalinus I lost all my childhood photographs and my personal album got spoiled. My fridge got rusted from the bottom as water stayed inside the house for long.

@akalinus I've been watching the news and they've been showing pictures of all the flooding. Water comes up quickly and your friend was lucky that she didn't get stuck in rising waters.

@Marilynda1225 It did come up quickly. It was fine when she left. When she was returning, the water quickly came up to her door. That was scary. She could have been swept away.

I sure. Floods can be terrible. Our neighbors who live in the low side used to get flooded they would have to be rescued by boat in their front yard.

@rebelann I lived in the country a lot. I saw some awesome flash floods. It rains in the mountains and the water runs down in a deluge. I once spent a lot of time in El Paso but never lived there. We did live in Midland.
The thing I remember most about El Paso was a car free zone in the center where you could cross the street without looking. That was a long time ago. I also remember a park with two alligators living in the middle. I since read that the live alligators were replaced by statues. I have not been there since.

Do you get these storms in El Paso? I don't remember anymore. I have not been there in ages, decades.
It has already stopped raining. I went outside and walked around for a bit. There are tree limbs and stuff from plants everywhere. It was a strong wind howling last night. The trees were bowing, bending.
