The Kitty and the Gecko

Our cat, Alex loves to sit near the glass doors and gaze out at the pond and the nature outside. He loves to see squirrels running by. A blue jay sometimes teases him by running from side to side. There is a large curtain over the middle door so it is a game of hide and seek. Lately, a little gecko runs across the glass. He is young, slender, and runs fast. Alex goes bonkers every time he sees it. He leaps up and tries to catch it. It seems to know he is safe and likes to tease Alex. Maybe they are playing games and I don't understand. Do your pets like sitting in windows? Do they react to things outside? What do they like most? Do they get excited when they see geckos?

That’s so cute! My current dog doesn’t sit at the patio door, but I had a dog named Sherlock who got very enamored with whatever was going on outside.

Most dogs seem to love watching the action outside. Does your current dog see okay?

@akalinus Oh yes, but she’s more into sounds. If she hears something she’ll go to the patio door and look. Right now, she’s barking because someone walked by my front door.

@AmbiePam I like that. You will always know when someone is sneaking around your place, especially at night. I had an outside dog. I tried to get her in at night because sometimes kids came around on 4-wheelers. I was mad at her for not coming in but she would look at me with those big eyes and wag her tail. I just hugged her.

Their tails do grow back. I think nature knows that geckos get stuck in places. I have seen geckos with half tails and watched them grow out longer. I love my little buddies. I have not seen them much since I moved.

Yes, Nico loves it. He also reacts to anything he sees outside. Salamanders show up here in the hottest most humid weather.

I thought salamanders liked to hide under rocks in mud. Not much of a life. Your's came out to play.

Dogs we've had liked to sit/lay on the coffee table in front of our front window and watch people/things go by. One of our dogs dug himself a "nest" (what my nephews called it) under a big plant in the backyard and watched birds, etc.--and made sure no cats came in the yard.

That's great. Some dogs love to dig nests in the yard. I think it is ingrained into a universal dog memory. He kept you safe from neighborhood cats. He earned his kibble.

Creatures seem to know when they're safe. And when they are safe, they don't mind teasing others.

We unfortunately don't have dogs anymore. Our little girl Buhund used to watch out the front window. The two dogs would go bonkers when our car pulled up. Have a good day.

Dookie and Dutchess love to sit in the window and occasionally growl at something outside. We left them one window where they are allowed to sit in the sill as much as they like.

That must be like watching TV to Alex. My cats did like sitting in a window for a while but now they occupy the table behind me where I work on the PC and enjoy just sleeping these hot days away, There are some little lizards that hop about the roof and my cats used to look out for them, They are constantly changing their minds, Here is one photo of Freddie and Morticia excited by a bird on the roof.

When our kitties were alive, they loved watching the world from their kitty towers. Buttons use to love watching me mow the front yard and Ginger would try to attack birds at the feeders.

I don't have any pets.My elder brother has some cows. The two stray cats we have are not our pets.Sometimes they move out of our home and go to the temple behind our house. And when they get hungry;they come back and we feed them.We don't let them enter our rooms.
