Cinnamon Queens are Teens Now!

Remember the Cinnamon Queen chicks I got back in early July? They were 2 weeks old when I picked them up and yesterday they made 9 weeks old. I thought I would share a picture to let you see how big they are now! They are definitely in their teenage stage. It seems like they should be older, but they are not. I went back into my messages to check on the actual pick-up date and was surprised to see it was July and not June! These chicks will be ready for the big coop in another 4 weeks or sooner by my guess. I have a hen that likes to stand and watch them. Their cage is outside of the chicken coop but right up against it and under the awning. She is funny to watch. I could understand when they were small, but she still does it now. Go figure! I am about to head back outside and go check on their water supply and throw a treat out for them. What have you been up to today? Photo Credit: My Own.

They sure grew quickly. So far a whole lot of nothing.

They double in size from week to week. It just seems like this clutch should be older!

@kaylachan Yes, I actually think they are a bit "ahead of the game" with their size.

They look great! We don't have chickens, but a fair number of our neighbors do--I love hearing them during the day.

Yes, they do. I was thinking I got this group in June, but it was actually July. Seems like I have had them longer!

@wolfgirl569 I have one hen that just doesn't go along with her "sisters" and is always going for all the treats before others, etc. She even comes to peck my leg when I go into the coop if I'm not fast enough delivering her snacks. If I stop throwing out, she comes over and pecks. Too funny! She has been getting fussed at a lot lately. But, at least not painful!

I had no idea they would grow so quickly. Wonder if they are looking forward to mixing with the other hens

Oh they pretty much double in size every week after birth! Crazy, huh? I am hoping we don't have any conflicts when I move them.

@Ronrybs It is sometimes hard for the older chickens to accept any new flock member. Just the way they are!

When do you get to eat them? Or are these for eggs? As for me, I made a trip to Walmart, and this morning I wrote a new article for HubPages. Other than that, nothing else planned except I have some pork steaks marinating that I will throw on the grill for dinner later.

Eggs. I am to the point to where I can't stand the taste of store bought eggs anymore. I should check out HubPages. (As if I have all the spare time in the world!! I do miss writing though!)

@kareng HubPages has really improved since it changed to a pure writing site. Worth a look.

They are pretty! And a different color altogether than the Rhode Island Red hens--although the only one left in the original clutch is the mean rooster. Yes, he is still here.

They are certainly growing up and looking good. Maybe that hen has a strong maternal streak.
