I hope this added to my tales of how my grammar died of emphysema will be the final straws in getting my silly daughter to quit for good. Announcing this week they stopping the sale of tobacco products in many Eastern states. If they are surely others stores will follow. My daughter is planning to quit again on her birthday which is October 14th. She has only been smoking since she was 12 and she is 52. 40 years for witches sake! I am hopeful one more time.

The sad thing, if an adict wants it bad enough, they'll get it and it'll be worse then the tabaco products currently on the market. Sounds like proibition all over again.

@celticeagle And, it's not like people can't get tabaco, it grows wild. It's a plant.

Not my business territory: how can she afford smokes? One of my brothers made it to 43. Barely 43. Clogged arteries. He watched my Dad slowly dying from nicotine, Dad's last years on an oxygen machine. Brother still smoked until well, he couldn't.

She gets SSI. It is no fun watching your loved ones die from nicotine. I hope she cares enough about her son not to have him watching her with COPD or worse.

No-one can make her do it, she has to want to herself. My Dad smoked since he was a teenager (in the 1930s) and all through my childhood I remember telling him he should stop and he would say he had tried. He was never a really heavy smoker, but still.... Anyway I think something must have scared him because suddenly, after I left home, my Mum told me he had stopped smoking. We didn't think it would last but sure enough he never smoked again. He was in his late 60s then and lived to 93 in pretty good health. He never told us what had inspired him to stop so suddenly out of the blue!

That is very true. Now she wants to but it is hard. An addiction that goes on for so long is very hard to quit. They have to get to a place where they want to quit.

Smoking is so gross. That being said all of the teens are vaping now so it is like 6 of one/half dozen of another. Vapes supposedly are even worse for the lungs.

I think all addictions are gross. Vapes aren't any good.

I hope this really makes a difference for her. Fingers crossed this is the push she needs to finally kick the habit for good.

Smoking is one of the hardest addictions to overcome, but it can be done.
