Kristin Lee who is a resident of Simsbury Connecticut was outside of her home with her family members who included her nine year son and two year old nephew on Wednesday August 21 saw a black bear walking through the yard. The good news is that the bear only wanted to have some food to eat and the bear no interest in harming any humans when the bear visited the Lee home. My guess is that the bear saw a home where he or she thought that there would be some food to eat since the homes of the bears are being taken away from them by humans in the name of progress. @rakski I am in agreement with you since bears need to eat food when they see food.

We used to live in bear country and would find scat in the yard. Only once did Hubby see a bear in the yard when he was outside. He came around the house and they surprised each other. The dog barked and the bear took off.

@Deepizzaguy They like to avoid people. The noise lets them know we're there.

Poor bear. Had it been my home I would have tossed it any kind of leftovers I could,

It's a stark reminder that we humans are often the root cause of these encounters. As we expand and take over their natural habitats, these animals have no choice but to wander into our spaces in search of food and shelter. It's really important for us to find a balance that respects wildlife too.

Lucky the bear was not interested in them, I hope humans become sensible enough and stop greed for wildlife space. The same happens here in Kenya. The Mara has been encroached, Nairobi stands on land once owned by Lions.

I am in agreement with you that humans need to have kindness toward the homes of bears and other animals.

It's good that the bear didn't harm the children - or the adults.
