When I was a baby my mother used olive oil and cornstarch on me. I used the same on my children because it is edible. If a baby puts a hand on the oil and then in the mouth, or on the cornstarch, it's okay. It's food. Not so the 'baby oil' which is mineral oil, not edible and the 'baby powder' is talc, again not food.

@jaylar Weather it's eadible is beside the point. You worry about your kids sticking their hands down their pants and eating the contents. If your kids or doing that, no ammount of natural product can protect them from that. What you have to be concerned about, is if the product causes an alergic reaction to the child. What is safe for the stomach may not be for the skin and can cause rash and infection.

coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil are natural products. People have eaten them for thousands of years. Corn starch is edible. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/446132/ just two articles proclaiming the dangers no one noticed

@kaylachan My fear was on a baby drinking mineral oil, or eating the talc. I know these are dangerous. So I never used them. I never used them on my children or myself. I'll use coconut oil on my skin, aloe vera on my hair and corn starch as powder

Using something natural and safe like olive oil and cornstarch makes a lot of sense, especially with how babies love to put everything in their mouths. Simple and effective!

Exactly how I saw it. Had nothing 'non-ediable' avoiding all the pharmacy stuff.

It is edible, yes. But keep the cornstarch away from the baby. If he or she were to inhale it, they can choke, just like with talcum powder.

I put it on their bodies with a puff, and keep it from them.
