Our community enjoys an event each year at Ann Morrison Park called The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic. Early in the morning for several consecutive mornings hot air balloons rise above the city and it is quite a sight seeing them floating over the area in the morning mist. But, this year due to the heavy smoke causing poor visibility and health threats all the balloons were halted. The 33rd annual was a no-go.
A Boise State football game watch party at Albertson's Stadium was also canceled.
Air quality in the valley has been bad for several months now and shows no signs of any change in the near future. It seems that several of the fires in the vicinity have been very little contained and have been burning continually for weeks. The sky is hazy and has an ashen look rather than a nice blue summer sky.
Today air quality is moderate at 62 with 51 through 100 being 'not ideal'. It is recommended to limit outdoor activity for especially sensitive individuals.
When will it end? I just want some fresh air.

@RebeccasFarm .......Yes, fresh beach air would be nice. I opened the window the other day because the AQ was way down. But I fell asleep and when I woke up I had a horrible headache because the AQ had gone up. I just can't win. There is an air quality alert out right now and it is so stuffy in here. AHHH!

That's a shame that the activities had to be cancelled. I hope they can put out the fires soon. Have a good day.

It seems to take forever to put them out. Weeks go by and they are only at like 15%.

Hot air balloon, wow! One of my most favorite thing in the world. That”s too bad it got cancelled. But i guess thats just a safe thing to do.
Let”s hope that everything will be ok the soonest time possible. Classes in our place are being suspended because of heat index reaching up to 45^C.

It’s such a shame to hear that the Balloon Classic and the football watch party were canceled due to the smoke. I hope things improve soon but it'll take a year to have those events again.

I have often wanted to go up in one but haven't so far. I used to enjoy seeing the balloons flying over when I was driving to work. That was a long time ago.
