Harassments of African Maids in Saudi Arabia - Slavery

With population explosion jobs have become so scarce. This has seen many Africans seek jobs in other countries. Every year, thousands of girls and women from Africa are assisted by agents to secure maid or nanny jobs abroad. However things take a sad turn when the employers begin mistreating the ladies. Many Kenyans have died while in Saudi Arabia as a result of assault by their bosses. Survivors of such bad bosses recount of how they are mistreated sexually and physically. A certain lady disclosed how she was forced to make love with a dog. Today 03.09.2024 one of our media houses reported that a Kenyan woman was thrown from a storey building in Saudi Arabia by her boss. She landed on her head and died from brain-freezing. Unfortunately, the family is unable to have their kin transported back home for burial - a month later. The government is not doing anything to help. Yet more and more women are still leaving the country to the Gulf! Do people from your country also travel to the oil-rich countries to work?

It is really terrible that these sorts of incidents are happening and nothing is being done about it. People can be really cruel to others.

@LadyDuck Very unfortunate indeed. And the world stands aside watching, doing nothing about it!

That is so wrong and sad. Something should be done but will probably not be.

Our African leaders are too selfish and insensitive to look into such issues...

It’s sad that so many people are facing such terrible conditions. It’s important for governments and agencies to better protect and support workers abroad or better yet, good paying jobs for these people in their own country so that they don't have to work abroad. I know these things are easier said than done.

You are right my friend but as we say, gaining independence by most african countries was like jumping from a frying pan into the fire. Our own leaders are worse than our colonial masters.
