It seemed that I was in for a watery end.

The approach into Belfast this afternoon was not the one I am accustomed to and I was a little concerned that the pilot may not have been in full command of things. We came down over Lough Neagh, and we were too low over it for my liking, especially since the airport was still at a considerable distance. Then the plane revved up and lifted a few hundred feet and veered off into a cloud bank. The captain then made an announcement but I would have preferred it if he had just kept his mind on the job. He said that on the approach the plane had “lost its isolation” from the plane in front!! It sounds like a near miss to me - he got too close. Anyway we landed with no further ado, but I’m sure there was more to the situation that we were being told. Have you had any hairy moments on a plane?

I am not a fan of flying and the runways that have scared me the most are the ones that have water sources nearby. I remember one time the plane was getting very low and suddenly all I saw was water but then the wheels found the tarmac of the runway.

We were told we had 'lost our place in the queue' and would be late taking off but actually the plane was held up for us. Long story but not our fault.

The last airplane ride I rode in the summer of 1986 was scary when a TACA airline flew over the Gulf Of Mexico from Cancun Mexico to Kenner Louisiana when one of the engines stopped working and the airplane fell down like a rock for a few feet until the engine restarted and was able to land safely at the airport in Kenner a short while later.

Yes. As we approached a landing in Cleveland, we heard the landing gear going up and down and up and down. Perhaps the pilot got a false reading on his gauges. We thought that there was something wrong with the landing gear. Have a good weekend.

@fleura Ignorance is bliss. No explanation was offered when I was on a soviet era Aeroflot flight to Moscow. Just as we were taking off, when to my mind the plane needs all the oomph it’s got along with my prayers and a lot of buttock clenching, the engines spluttered, the plane shuddered and then there was eerie silence. Heathrow started to come closer to us the there was another splutter and the engines jumped back into life and Heathrow began to recede. No explanation.

@Fleura Well when I reached Moscow to catch a connecting flight to Kabul there weren’t any because that was the night that the Soviet tanks rolled across the border so I got bumped onto a flight to Delhi and my luggage got bumped onto one to Karachi. Such is life.
