Did you guys have an unusual color fridge in your childhood home? Ours was just the standard white. And we had to defrost the freezer too. Remember doing that?

Yes many of the fridges here seem to be black or silver..I remember in the old days too there were some pink ones. That defrost is for the birds.

Having to defrost the freezer was the worst. Thank goodness we don't have to do that anymore. At one point I think we had avocado appliances in one of our homes.

We still have an old fridge in the basement that needs the freezer defrosted. Also our chest freezer needs to be defrosted. Yeah, we have old stuff. I think I had a harvest gold fridge and stove when I was first married. I can barely remember. All others have been white.

Ohh, how retro ! I'm pretty sure ours was white too. I can't remember if my parents had to defrost the freezer. But I do remember the metal ice trays!

Growing up we always had a white fridge. I remember my grandparents replacing their fridge and stove for a harvest gold set way back in the late '60's. When we got married in 1987 we opted for almond coloured appliances. We both really liked them as the only other choice then was white. Those appliances lasted us a very long time, the workmanship and the choice of colours or finishes pale in comparison in my eyes. We have stainless now, and I dislike it.

We had kerosene fridges when I was a child. We had to trim the wicks and make sure they didn't run out of kero.

@RebeccasFarm I was born in 1946 and we didn't have electricity on the farm so we had kerosene lamps and fridges. Later we got a 32-volt generator that would run a washing machine but I don't think it ran the fridge. We only started it up to wash and at night for lights.

I remember my birth mother once had a yellow fridge. I don't know if I'd say it was cool, but certainly memorable for being unusual.
