Why didn’t he say?

I have ‘won’ an item of furniture on Ebay and I need to go and collect it. I asked, earlier in the week, if I could go today and the seller said yes. This morning I got some work done then emailed to ask if it was OK to come mid-afternoon, and the seller said yes, but not before 2 pm as he would be in a meeting. So of course I started doing some other things. Those took a bit longer than they should so at about 2:10 pm I sent him a text to say I was finishing off some work and then I would set off. That’s when he said “I have to leave at 2:30 pm”. Why didn’t he say that in the first place? He could easily have said “Please come between 2 and 2:30” or just said he would be busy until 2 but then had to leave half an hour later. When he said after 2 pm I took that to mean any time in the afternoon after 2 pm. I’ve asked when would be a suitable time to come instead but no reply so far. Is this an individual selling furniture or from a furniture store? It seems strange and I wonder if there really is a prize. If you go, bring someone with you. I'm not sure this person can be trusted.

Did you finally land up there and got what you had gone there for? That clock is a birdy clock. I have one but the birds do not chirp any more.

I'm going today. We have arranged that it will be 2 pm on the dot this time! I'm going to collect a desk and a set of drawers to go with it. They will be for the lodger who is coming to live with us next month.

That's frustrating and I hope you can get there to pick up there furniture. He should have been specific about the time frame.

Sounds like he is a busy man. Double busy in fact.

No I haven't paid yet - although it is only 99p anyway! Trying again today.

That would be really annoying. So easily avoided if he'd told the whole story.
