Making housework more fun

We were at a folk music and dance event last weekend and one of the traditional dance groups did a dance that actually involved folding a sheet!
It reminded me of when I was little, my mother used to get me to help with folding up sheets and blankets and we would do a sort of chant of ‘Shake the blanket, shake the blanket, turn the blanket over!’ I can’t remember if there were any more lines than that, but as a child of four or so I used to find it fun. We would shake out the sheet or blanket and then fold it up between us – exactly as the dancers did.
Funnily enough I just searched online for the words in case I was able to find any more, but all I could find were suggestions for how to use this as an ‘action song’ with your baby (not involving actual laundry).
Maybe adults aren’t supposed to have fun doing the housework these days. Does anyone else remember ‘Dashing away with the smoothing iron’? My mother used to sing that too!

MY mothere had an incentive for the work that we did. Always something to eat after the work was done

My mama played records or the radio while we did chores and we’d dance.

I don't remember any housework games. Fun to think of.
I do remember when my children and grandson were small, they loved to help. Especially washing dishes.
My grandson would clean every baseboard and just keep cleaning, cleaning, cleaning we ith a little cloth. He's definitely no help now, unless he feels like cooking.
