Today's trip to the little Tesco. (10/9/2024)

I've just been to the little Tesco again. I didn't need to get much. I looked at my weather app before I went, and it said 51% chance of rain, and it had a symbol of a cloud with raindrops falling from it at 10:00am. So I decided to wear my waterproof mac with the hood on again. I went upstairs to tell Syd that I was going to the little Tesco and to ask for £20 to pay for it with. He didn't hear me at first when I asked for the £20, (he's a bit deaf) so I has to repeat it. I told him he'd get some change. He said he was going to get some more tablets again aswell. So when I'd got the £20 I set off to the shop. It was very windy, and the wind kept blowing the lid of my trolley up which was very irritating. When I got into the shop the first thing that I did was look at a stationary display near the door. There was a set of pencils there with a pencil sharpener, but there was no price for it. There was also some marker pens, but they looked like pencils. I didn't get anything from there. I went and got the 2 TV magazines, then I went round to get a bakery thing from the freshly baked section. Today I got Syd a large custard tart from there. And then I got him a bounty bar as usual. I didn't treat myself to anything today. And I didn't get a banana because the bananas at home aren't looking too bad so I'll have one of those for lunch. So next I went and got some strawberries. I tried to make sure I got one with some large strawberries in. Then I got the 2 bottles of milk, and then I went to pay. It came to £10.09 exactly. The lady apologised for not having any £5 notes. I went back out to go home, and it was still very windy. The lid of the trolley flew up and I got very ratty with it! When I got home Syd was out getting his medicine. I put his TV magazine, bounty bar and change on the arm of Mum's sofa where the newspapers get put. Then I unpacked the groceries and put them away. And now I'm watching Homes Under the Hammer again. Syd came back home a few minutes ago and took his stuff upstairs. We thought Mum might be coming out of hospital yesterday, but she didn't. So now I don't know when she's coming back out again. Hopefully in the next couple of days. A few days ago I noticed Syd hadn't shut the door to the freezer near the window properly. I opened it to find it was thawing out! There was running water on the top of some of the draws. I don't know how long it had been like that for. So I closed the door to the freezer properly and hoped for the best. Then yesterday I went into the freezer to get some onion and peas out for my dinner. I got my onion out, and I was just going to pull out the top drawer, but it wouldn't budge! I tried it again, still nothing. Then I noticed there was a layer of ice above the top draw freezing it shut! I had to get out my kitchen knife and chizel the ice away at the top of the drawer to get it to open! Obviously, the ice that had melted at the top of the drawer when Syd left the drawer not shut properly had refrozen when I closed the door properly and frozen the drawer shut! Anyway, after much chizelling I managed to get the drawer open. It made me late starting my dinner, but it was still ready just before 5:00pm, so I was alright. Syd was out visiting my Mum in hospital when all this was happening! On Saturday Dave and Ali came round and gave Syd a lasagne in a rectangular porcelain dish for him to put in the oven. So, what have you lot been getting up to recently? I hope you are all well. Have a nice day.

I can imagine how hard it was to get the freezer open. It's easy to slip and cut yourself when you're trying to chisel through ice.

@sharonelton Every time I defrosted our freezer, I had to wash the kitchen floor afterwards as it always became a bit of a mess.

It was the top drawer I couldn't get open. When I was chizelling clumps of ice fell on the floor and I had to pick them up quick and throw them in the sink! I was very careful. Thank you for your concern.

@sharonelton Asda was miserable this morning and I’ve stopped consulting the weather app. It lies. Mowed a bit of lawn and made a chicken tagine for tonight. Poor Syd and the freezer.

I'm sorry Asda was miserable. My weather app lies sometimes too, but it's accurate most of the time. I'm glad you managed to mow a bit of lawn. Which bit did you mow? I hope you enjoyed your chicken tagine. What is that exactly? Poor Syd? He should learn to close the freezer door properly!

@sharonelton Tagine is spicy chicken (preferably lamb) chick peas, tomatoes, onion, garlic, coriander, etc. perfect for a cold day. North African.

I hope you explained to Syd abut the freezer problems so he'll be more careful. I'm just about to go to Sainsbury's.

No. He's deaf and I don't want to get shouted at. Mum's back home now anyway. She'll sort the freezer. I hope you got what you needed from Sainsbury's.

I hope your Mum comes home soon. AAA (American Automobile Association) is coming today to put a battery in a car that won't start and to pump up the tires. Have a good day.
