Ambitious goals like “doing your best” are typically far less successful than specific ones like signing up 10 new clients a month or logging 10,000 steps a day. Therefore, as a general rule, whatever goals you establish for yourself or consent to should be precise. In various studies it is confirmed that goal setting helps to get motivated and work towards it.Numerous studies have confirmed the significance of goal-setting. Research has demonstrated, for instance, that salespeople who have goals close more transactions, and those who commit to regular exercise are more likely to become fitter.

Goals which are achieveable with a little stretch is what motivates most people. And you are right - having Smart goals have more success rates. Personally I have seen more results with such goals. Also focussing on a single goal at a time , have more success rate than having multiple goals at same time. In fact, the focus has to be on few and simple things for brain to be efficient and focussed. Goals should not easy nor tough . Interesting insight on goal settings. Observations seem to be spot on!
