Elliana MacLeod has come home to whip the Mirror Lake Inn into tip-top-shape - the only way to prevent her mother from selling the beloved family business. Between watching over mischievous, cigar-sneaking Grandpa Joe and trying to help Highland Falls win the Most Romantic Small Town in America contest, Elliana's plate isn't just full, it's overflowing. She can't refuse Nathan Black's offer made it abundantly clear he considers her a friend and nothing more.
Nate knows he's not cut out for long-term relationships or white picket fences, and that's what Ellie deserves. Yet keeping her at arm's length is nearly impossible, especially once they're working - and living - side-by-side. The more time he spends with Ellie, the more he wants, and not just for today but forever. When Ellie's ex returns to town, has Nate missed his chance with the woman of his dreams?

So we have a town full of matchmakers believing Ellie and Nate belong together. And they are tempted but resistiance with a momentary show of fake dating. The ex shows up and we have a little bit of a love triangle, the one that got away.
We also have the mystery involving the mother's insistence on selling the family Inn. Suspicions are strong that the mother must be being forced into selling for some reason. Blackmail comes up. Criminal activity. Family drama, and of course a little bit of romance.
This book had a little bit of everything and I loved it. Romantic suspense is my favourite genre and again, I was not expecting the suspense aspect of this story you can see it leading up to that right up until the end.
This story was a pleasant surprise for me, filled with several different tropes. The romance is sweet, not steamy. A perfect little read.
