Carnlough sparkled.

It (the weather) was hot today. We drove out the coast to Carnlough and had ice cream at the harbour. Three tourist battle buses had the village all tied up in knots trying to squeeze past each other on the narrow street and we got our ice creams just before an unruly queue of Japanese and American tourists developed outside the ice cream shop. There was another queue outside the public toilet. When anyone came out of the toilet they went to join the queue for ice cream. The sea sparkled all the way to Carnlough and back and I thought of Lisbon and Dr Pereira. Lisbon sparkled back in 1938 but under the sparkle life was dark and oppressive and I thought of Monteiro Rossi.

Sounds like a lovely view along a sea coast, How far is Carnlough from where you live?

@rasmasandra 20 minute drive, longer if you get stuck behind a tour bus.

I'm sorry the tourists ruined your visit. I hope you have a good day.

I've seen two big trucks trying to pass each other in an Irish town but I can't remember which one. I know there is a bypass road round it now.
