How to survive as a writer with this ChatGPT!??

I have been freelance writing for years but have recently lost several clients because everyone is now looking for the cheaper and easier option - ChatGPT. How are writers surviving out there? I know the good clients value the human element but the smaller/budget-constraint clients are really making life hard for writers. What to do??

I have joined a cabal of resistance fighters ready for the 'big one' when AI becomes fully self-aware.
Yeah - AI has really hurt the writer's niche online.

@samgardner Doesn't really have a name but we meet every other night at Dave's place to get high and toss survival options around.

@Scarred4Lyfe I thought the only pills available were the red and the blue, but it looks like you took the green. I can't blame you, it's probably the healthiest.

It's hard to compete with a bot like chat gpt. But a bot can't make puns or jokes or give special insight into a topic. I would let my clients know this and offer a discount. It will be worth the real human

@somewitch yes , if you want a manufactured article. But for real experiences and perspective only a human will do

@JimmyDeen It made me think a writer who masters ChatGPT can be more productive and therefore offer more competitive prices. They would still able to proofread and give that human touch, but a lot of time would be saved.

Keep at it. Sign up for frelance writing sites that allow you to write. I know a couple mylotters make a decent living using textbroker.

@samgardner I don't know what to tell you. They might not be going as quickly as you're assuming. Sure, AI is making life easier, but you also will always have people who would rather pay someone else to do the work, then do anything requiring effort themselves. So, they aren't a dying art, yet.

Just got to keep trying and doing what you can do and never give up, I have been writing online for over ten years, I have found freelance writing jobs now hard to find, I need to add money to my account every month so I do surveys, I blog on WordPress and I link my blogs to my writing on Vocal Media, I manage but it's of course not like it once was where freelance jobs were plenty, Just got to think positively and keep trying,

@RasmaSandra I went to check your blog, it looks beautiful!
I think the best thing at this point for a freelance writer is to monetize their own writings and rely less and less on clients. I imagine traffic to blogs will come from bots mostly (ChatGPT included), so I guess social media - especially short videos - work better.

@somewitch thank you for liking my blog. I link my work to the Vocal Media site and there with people reading my articles I can make some money but it takes a long time to build up, I keep track of followers to my blogs and so far they are all genuine and people,

Sadly, I lost several clients because of ChatGPT. And the one last article marketplace where I used to sell articles had to stop accepting new submissions because "there's been a deluge of articles on queue." Obviously, that was the work of the AI too.
After doing freelance work from home for two decades, I've decided to quit and just accept the fact that it's time to move on. I still get a bit of passive income through myLot and affiliate marketing but they're not enough to pay the bills. I miss those days when I could get $$$ publishing articles on various platforms.

Same. Freelance writing used to be fun. Now it's just a constant battle against machines.
