When six book influencers take a weekend getaway to connect with their fellow creators, it's meant to be a chance to relax, collaborate, and discuss all the books they love. But from the start, something's clearly amiss. From the host's mysterious absence and an unexpected guest to an odd occurrence in town and the strange and worrisome behavior of the neighbors, what starts out as an innocent and lively vacation quickly becomes a weekend filled with terror. And when one of the group members believes they see something horrifying at the house next door, their carefully laid plans begin to unravel. Drawn into a mystery that runs far deeper and is more sinister than they could've imagined - and surrounded by those who refute their story - the group struggles to unearth the truth about the house and the couple next door before it's too late. As new questions and shocking revelations surface, the group must decide if they can trust each other - not only with their safety in the house, but with their lives entirely. ~~~~ Another quick read thriller. A neat little story about book influencers getting together for a weekend getaway. Just the kind of story I love and I'm sure a lot of book people do. I am like Lena, our narrator, who would be very shy meeting these people in real life while the rest of the crew (5 of them) act like they've known each other all their lives though they never met. Lena seems to be the most believable character being initially shy at meeting these new people. The weird goings-on surrounding the house where they are staying was weird to say the least, and is one of the reasons that kept me reading. I got to a point where I figured out what was going on... I was wrong. I think my idea was better. The twist here was just so far out there, so weird. Even the title doesn't seem to fit. I expected more from a book influencers gathering. They played one game and they took some pictures outside, but no book discussion or the likes of what I would think would occur at one of these meet-ups (they happen a lot and I see them on youtube). But I guess the mystery and weird goings-on took them away from their actual plans. Not my favourite but a nice quick read with short chapters. Kiersten Modglin gets straight to the point with her stories. No fluff. She gets straight to the meat of the story.

Like any other influencers but focus on books. Social media influencers... youtube (or BookTube), Instagram (bookstagram), TikTok (BookTok), etc.

@BarBaraPrz In the book community? They are influencing readers and supporting writers.

@patgalca Yes, but who are they supposed to be influencing? Readers or writers?

Thanks for reading and commenting. All I know what to talk about is the books I am reading. Nothing else going on in my life. Don't know what else to post about.

@JudyEv I'm glad I'm not alone. I do check out "their discussions" but just can't find anything I can contribute to. I rarely make dinner so I can't even comment on that conversation.

@patgalca I understand. I like to have something to say when I post but lots post about meals, shopping, what they had for breakfast - all of which is okay but it's not really for me. Sometimes I get inspiration from old photos or from news items. But I understand what you're saying. Take care.

So it's between a thriller and horror.?

I guess you could say that. I don't really read horror so I don't have it to compare to, but there is what could be considered a moment of horror. Mostly thriller vibes.
