How did you start writing online?

I must admit that I started my writing stunt online here in myLot. I am grateful that a former myLotter introduced this site to me. Unfortunately, he is not active here anymore. Even if I work on the other sites, I still go back here. It is like my second home. Image Credit: gothamghostwriters.com

For me, writing online was just a new way to write and share what was written. I was writing LONG before the Internet happened.

@jaylar Certainly the Internet did increase reach and even made it more profitable.

My first writing site was Birejji, it was more of an IRC chat room but it led me to myLot. It took me ages to adapt to this new way of doing things, communication in chat rooms was faster, but eventually I did. I might look new but I'm not.

It is nice to know that you have finished doing the IRC chatroom. On myLot, I was able to explore more sites as being referred by our co-myLotters. By the way, welcome to myLot. Is Birejji open to all nationalities? I got curious about it. Do they pay the members of the site?

@Shavkat Thanks! Birejji closed almost 10 years ago, but I always got paid when it was up. I wish for a site like that to be back. There were people of several different nationalities and a few separate chatrooms for languages other than English. A lot of people would come to spam but moderation was good overall. I think what made Birejji fail was a bigger thing. But that was the place where I came to know about myLot.

@Shavkat If I'm not mistaken, Bubblews promised more than what it could deliver. Did you ever get paid at Bubblews? It's been ages and my memory is not great, I think they also increased the payment threshold at some point. Birejji managed their finances pretty well I believe, except they allowed members to "fund" their chatrooms and I suspect one user found a way to scam the site. If they didn't allow self-funding, maybe it would still be up. Or maybe the admin had personal issues, but I'm more of a "conspiracy theorist" so I support the scammer hypothesis.

I guess Mylot started it all for me.

It seems that we are on the same page. Looking back, I have been here for more than a decade. It was the longest period for being a freelance writer online.

I started on a site that has been shutdown for almost 14 years, and before it was shut down, I learned about mylot and here I am still here popping in and out of this site. I hope I can do a lot of interaction here while my schedule is not full yet. Have a great day.

@Shavkat I agree, and it is a good investment of our free time.

I used to not know that we could do writing and earning at the same time. MyLot opened my eyes to explore more than this site. I might be busy as a bee sometimes, but I still come back here from time to time.

Wow. It's been so long ago I'm not sure I remember--though I think the earliest site I remember writing on was Gather, which I wish still exsisted.

Sometimes it's disappointing to see some Myloters are not active here any more. I like Mylot but today I am also less active here than before.

Indeed. In the old days, myLotters were so active. I do not know what happened to them now.

I would find it hard to stay away from myLot for any length of time. It's like my second home too.
