My Phone is Scary

I was typing up my last discussion. My friend works at home. Her office is a few feet away. She told someone they will get a free first aid kit as a gift. My phone jerked to life and started talking about first aid kits on Wikipedia. My phone was not on. I was working on my laptop. This is so scary. The phone is always listening. Does this ever happen to you? Does technology scare you sometimes?

It is not the phone that scares me. It is whoever is listening to every word my friends and I say. What do they want to know? I am a nobody so what do they care what I talk about?

@Shivram59 I agree with you. Not everyone who smiles at you is your friend. Nothing is private anymore. Someone is always snooping and listening. Most of my phone calls with my friend are useless prattle. I don't know why these unseen entities need to know everything.

@akalinus This is exactly what I wonder. Why are they so much interested in peeping into our lives.Only they know.

This scares me A LOT. Who knows where the information is going?

This is so true. I don't know why they need the information. Will they come and confiscate my first aid kit? What about the bandages in my back pack? Oops, I think I said too much.

@JudyEv I was joking, I think. Who knows? It is scary to have unknown entities in the privacy of your own house. Is your TV watching you? Will your smart refrigerator call the government about you and your secret plot to eat a salami sandwich sometime after midnight?

@akalinus Haha. I don't think they want your first aid items. I reckon they'd just be collecting whatever information they can find.

I am not sure if it is like it. The day my father was buried under the ground, his mobile phone rang when we arrived at home. The weird thing is, it is a basic phone.

@akalinus A basic phone that is not like touch-screen phones these days. I am not sure, too. I guess he was trying to say that he is fine despite a hard fight to survive for his family at that time. However, there was a time that I heard him calling my name right after his burial. It was like he was shouting in a faraway distance.

@Shavkat Wow, it probably was him, somehow. I am sorry for your loss.

I'm not sure what you mean by a 'basic' phone. Who called? Was it him telling you he is okay? What do you think?

I wonder how many people don't have phones these days. I never did for endless years and did not know what I missed. I think I felt a lot calmer then.

Big Brother is everywhere. If you have a smart TV, an Alexa, or a nosy neighbor Big Brother knows. Even your smart refrigerator can tell on you.

I think if it keeps happening, we will think it is normal. Then, they will do something worse since we accepted that.
