Pasta is Good for You!

We went shopping last night. Pasta was on sale. We bought macaroni and spaghetti, a lot of it. I was carrying it in a reusable bag and carried a couple of heavy items in my hands. I fell in the kitchen. The reusable bag flipped underneath me and broke my fall. Pasta kept me from breaking anything. The boxes of pasta did not fare as well. They are all bent out of shape and some contents are broken. If anyone ever says pasta is bad for you, you can say that it is. It will save you in an emergency. Did macaroni ever save you?

It has only saved me from hunger. And a couple of times, some friends came to end up a party at my house as the restaurant we were was closing. But the party did not finish so I boiled pasta and took out some of my pesto.

@akalinus And it is so easy! I always have pesto made at home. I do it when basil is in season.

@akalinus Ya know, I do recall having a packet of oatmeal in my purse . . . I was often snack-ready when the kids were little. But never pasta. I used to be a pack rat with purses . . . I had everything in there too . . . it was a survival kit .

@much2say I look at my backpack as a survival kit too. You never know what you might find in there. Maybe protein bars, medication, bandaids, grooming stuff, the list is endless.

That's funny. My purse has been full of stuff but never pasta. There are packages of instant oatmeal in my backpack. I am always ready for everything.

We eat a lot of pasta. I don't know what the food prices are like in your area but they are ridiculous here. We eat pretty well because we get everything on sale.

@akalinus food is expensive here, especially fresh food but as we have a farm we have many fresh vegetables and fruits.

Thanks, I have never been saved by pasta before. It could have been much worse if I just fell. My arms and hands are bruised up.

My arms and hands are bruised but my middle was not hurt. That is where the vital organs are, so I made out okay.

I never fell on pasta, but we are both Italian and I prepare pasta at least three times per week. Pasta is not bad for you, but a heavy greasy sauce could be.

@akalinus What we like more are spaghetti "Italian style" olive oil, hot chili pepper and garlic, a lot healthier than butter and cheese. My husband should not eat butter.

I like it with butter and cheese. Most people do put sauce on it and it is good that way too.

Not everyone needs a personal relationship with pasta. It was a hello, fall on you, and leave you on a shelf.

Thats an interesting finding. I did not have such an experience earlier , so cannot say much on that. I do like pasta and we usually have the same for dinner. They are great for dinner and rarely we had them for breakfast. Easy and convenient to cook and best in taste with right sauce and right amount of cheese. I do have pasta twice a month and well, in that way I do not get bored by pasta. It is economical here when it comes to noodles and pasta and most people have started having pasta and noodles along with their local dishes . Glad you did not get hurt . Hope you are all fine now. Enjoy the weekend!

Pasta is so misunderstood. It is not bad unless you're gluten intolerant maybe. See, it can even save lives. And spaghetti don't even retaliate when you break them.

No, they did not fight back. They just laid there until I picked them up, reshaped some of the boxes, and put them away.
