Good Morning!
On Friday of this week, my peer is going to teach me how to use the oven!
I am going to have her show me how to turn on the oven and ask her to let me do it myself. to not interfere
She said to buy some things on Saturday when I went to Walmart that I have really been wanting to eat but have not had in a long time.
So, yesterday I splurged and bought a box of frozen mozzarella cheese sticks. I don't remember the brand name, but they were expensive at over $6 . I wasn't buying a lot more and I saved some money on other things I bought at the mall before Walmart, the savings from the mall I used for the cheese sticks. I could not find a cheaper brand of cheese stick
Then my shopping list was redeemed because for a little over $2, I bought Great Value garlic bread with I think, 5 cheeses. it was a lot cheaper than the name brand so in my cart it went
Then I decided since I would have my peer to help I bought a dozen eggs. I want her to teach me how to make French Toast. I bought a bottle of my lactose-free milk and a loaf of bread.
The bread will maybe be used by me another time for grilled cheese. I can sort of make them but I have to practice. Mine always fall apart in the pan when I turn it over
My peer and I are going to be cooking lots of things! and I am so excited!
What have you cooked lately or plan to cook sometime soon?

Thank you! I have made pizza with my peer in the past several times and we always used a package of three personal pan pizza crusts I bought at Walmart. They were good, but I found myself wanting more after eating them.
If I used English muffins I could double the number of pizzas made
thank you for the suggestion!

thank you! I plan on writing down the instructions about how to turn on the oven. I have memory problems and like to have everything written down.
I think mozzarella sticks sound scrumptious!

I am glad to read that you will pursue your cooking lessons and learn to make some things to eat that you like. Can't live on sandwiches forever!
I didn't cook a lot today, I did make two apple pies because I was given a ton of apples from a friend. I just made the pies and froze them, they are not baked, I bake them when I need them.

Almost any fruit can be frozen. Apple pies are easy, make the pie and freeze it unbaked, and bake when you want to, from the frozen state. I've done that for years. We have apples to eat plain quite often, or to chop up and put on oatmeal or other cereals. My son sometimes fixes slices in a bowl with cinnamon and sugar.
Yes, I make pie crusts. It's better, cheaper, and just tasty. Besides, I've made them all my life, and it's just automatic at this point!
Things we make with apples...pie, of course. Fresh apple cake, apple bread, apple cookies, apple salad, fried apples, and on and on it goes...they never go to waste.

@MarieCoyle I adore apples with cinnamon and sugar!. I have been eating cups of applesauce with cinnamon. I try to stay away from adding sugar to anything in my kitchen. Of course, I buy certain things with sugar already in them once in a while.
I have never added apples to oatmeal myself but love the apple cinnamon-flavored oatmeal in the package with flavored oatmeal. I bought plain oatmeal once and nearly added a whole bottle of cinnamon to it and I couldn't keep it from being too bland. I used the rest in cranberry oat bars that weren't firming so I put it in the oven for almost two hours when it was supposed to be in the oven for a half hour. I can cook but am not very good with baking skills. poor sis spent Christmas Eve getting it out of the pan as it was hard as a rock and inedible
I never had homemade pie crust as my mom made pie crust because of demand but she hated cooking with a passion. I tried to get her to teach me to cook and I would have taken over cooking, but she refused
all the foods you mentioned using apples besides pie sound delicious! I am intrigued by fried apples.
I may buy an apple the next time I order food to see if it agrees with me. I used to not be able to eat apples for years. My sister bought me some apple sauce when I had my wisdom teeth out and I am not having problems. I have not been having too many problems with what I eat for a while now

Exactly! I am tired of sandwiches and precooked cheeseburgers from Walmart!
monday I plan to have a salad as part of my dinner so that I have something better in me and something else but I don't know what.
I am going to see if my peer will help me make a baked potato in the future as I have not had one in a few years. I have been craving one
I didn't know one could freeze apples for apple pies. I remember my mom made the best apple pies and was always making them because my family loved them and begging her to make them
A good memory is that my mom would buy extra apples when she was making apple pies cut them up and put the cinnamon and sugar on them and not bake them. She would let me eat them raw in a bowl as that was my favorite way to eat.
do you make your crust homemade or do you buy them already made? My mom took shortcuts and bought some kind of premade crust. I don't know the brand name though
will you make anything else from those apples?
I have been having snacks of apple sauce back cups. I found 6 cups of Motts applesauce cheaper than the same amount of Walmart's Great Value snack cups. I am pretty happy i am trying to eat healthier!
