It's been one of those days...

Of worry, of course. The son isn't doing very well today. He has an appointment tomorrow with his PCP, I wanted to take him to the ER this morning but he won't go. Long story, but he just isn't well today. Then there's the youngest daughter and her family, and more of my extended family, in and around St. Petersburg. My daughter is one of those people who prefers to hunker down with the generator, kids, food, and husband and wait out the storm. As of last night, I couldn't convince her that they needed to evacuate. But at 7 AM this morning, something woke her up and now they are evacuating. I think the storm staying pretty much on track, along with the terrible winds that are part of it all, scared her. Their house is very strong, brick, and they are always prepared for a storm, but this time, she decided to not wait it out. They have a lot of huge trees in their yard, and while they are beautiful trees, if one fell on the house, it wouldn't play out well. So my day with her has been her calling and texting off and on all day, trying to keep me updated as to where they were going and such. They had planned on going to her Dad's. But the assisted living facility, along with nursing homes and some hospitals, are evacuating people. Her grandparents are in their 90's and not well, and so they have to go to their son's house or a shelter. Well, of course they are going to their son's (my kids Dad, and the ex's parents) and the house is smallish, it would be hard to add 2 more adults and 2 little bitty boys. So daughter and son in law made other plans. Between all of that, and son's issues today, I sort of feel like a floppy rag doll. I am hoping that tomorrow or the next day it will all be less stressful. Do you have family or friends in the path of the hurricane? Are they evacuating? I hope they do if they are in danger...we can somehow get new places to live, but we can't replace the people we love.

i hope she will find somewhere to stay. we like trees but with hurricanes, they become enemies, sadly. don't feel bad and sorry for your son not feeling well. no hurricane here.

@MarieCoyle I am reading about Hurricane Milton and this one looks scary. I hope your son will feel better after you take him to the treatment center. We had a creamy potatoes and carrots soup for lunch, my husband is now napping. He often looks exhausted.

@LadyDuck Your soup sounds delicious. I hope he had a good rest. The son went, his doctor was sick today so he had to see an unknown doctor. His back and neck are painful, they put him through the MRI and we should have the results tomorrow. He gets a lot of MRI's...due to the steel rods and the mesh, etc. from the surgical repairs he had from the wreck.

I am just glad they decided not to stay there directly in the path. I was so scared. My son didn’t feel like eating much the last few days, he doesn’t have any flu or virus symptoms, it is no doubt his.blood count is messed up again. He is finally resting. I am taking him to the treatment center in the morning. I am glad your husband is having a better day. I know you treasure those. Thank you so much, Anna .

I pray that your son is better and that your daughter reaches a place of safety. One of my husband's cousins may be in the path of Milton.

Last night about midnight, she swore they would just hunker down. By 7 AM, she had changed her mind. I was a nervous wreck thinking of them staying there...so glad they are evacuating! Thank you so, so much, Amber.

I read your latest post first . . . oh I'm so glad your daughter did decide to evacuate after all. I'll bet so many out there are having to scramble with plans - so much to consider. I hope your son is doing better today and that things are less stressful for you too .

My daughter and her family are in a much safer place, which helps my peace of mind. But many others are not so fortunate. During bad storms, I know a lot of people think nothing will happen to them or the storm won’t hit where they are, and it does.

I hope all your loved ones will be safe. I've seen the huge queues of cars on roadways trying to leave a place when the storms are bad. Best wishes to your son too.
