Glimpse Of Sunlight

The weather forecast was right for once, the rain gave us a break today. I wish it was the same elsewhere, many places have had enough of the bad weather, to not mention Hurricane Milton. I really hope it won't be as destructive as they're making it sound. I plan to stay home tomorrow. I'll be back on the stationary bike. I'm tired of walking around my town, there are hardly any sidewalks and streets are no better with construction guys working everywhere. After all, they can't work on rainy days so today they've popped up like mushrooms. I guess it's time to explore greener pastures for my daily walks. Hopefully I'll find a solution that doesn't require a long commute as that would defeat the purpose of my "expedition". Do you enjoy going for walks? Is your area a good place to walk?

@TheHorse Right, I should have shared a photo of some mushrooms but didn't have any in my gallery. You're so lucky you got hiking areas nearby!

@allknowing That sounds safe as well as fun, you get to see many birds I guess. Is the garden private? Or do you meet other people when walking?

I have a large yard so I circle it talking to all the critters. I never know for sure what I will see

@somewitch It usually is. A couple of years ago I watched fox kits playing in the neighbors hay field.

@somewitch I am inside a village. It takes 45 minutes to walk going to church where there is a nearby park. Along the way, there are several convenience stores

@rakski That's great! Is the city you live in big or small? I mean, can you easily walk to places such as stores, schools, parks etc? I could do that when I lived in the city but now no more, that made me way more sedentary than before.

@rakski Sounds like most of what you need is relatively close, very nice.

It's easy enough to go for a walk here. There are footpaths and parks not too far away.

@somewitch I think when an area is developed here, a certain percentage is allocated to 'public open space' so we do have a lot of parks here and there.

@JudyEv Wow, that'd be perfect for me! They didn't even bother building a decent park here, the best green areas are private gardens.

The little tiny town where I live now is not a good place to walk. No real sidewalks except on Main Street a bit. Roads are chunky. Not enough street lights at night. I could go to a walking track before or after work just across from my school. It is indoors.

@GardenGerty It's about the same here, I feel you. A indoor walking track sounds nice though!

I live in a very walkable neighborhood, away from businesses and traffic. I used to walk all the time before my back got worse. Sometimes, my dog would get tired, and I’d pick him up and carry him about a quarter of a mile while he rested. He had little legs.

Since the election is coming, I think even though there are rain showers, many of the good roads will be repaired again, lol!

@Deepizzaguy That's good to hear! A safe place to walk or exercise is a blessing not to be taken for granted these days.
