Do phone calls ever raise your blood pressure?

I don’t lose my patience easily, and I can keep perspective pretty well. But today, I made a phone call and I could feel my blood pressure rising, and my temper was tested. It is difficult to make that happen. I remember when a fellow Mylotter showed her ignorance about a situation and called me stupid. I just rolled my eyes and felt sorry for their complete lack of understanding. This time, it was past rolling the eyes. I’m thankful I can keep my impatience under control. Once, when my mom was in the midst of her dementia battle, a woman called to schedule my mom’s mammogram. At this point, my mom was about 50, and she didn’t have a concept of much of anything. My dad declined to make an appointment, but the woman persisted. My dad kept politely declining, having explained the situation. The woman had the nerve to then snap, don’t you even care if your wife dies? Personally, I couldn’t believe the woman’s nerve. Have you guys had a phone call that you literally feel raising your blood pressure? I’m fine about it now, but I haven’t felt that kind of anger in years.

Oh, yes, that has happened. Usually with the VA. I miss the old days of landlines when I could envision my hand going through the cord to the other end and strangling the person.

It’s been awhile, but sometimes a phone call can really get my goat.

@ambiepam That was a heartless thing for the woman to say. When I get annoying calls I start singing. That usually puts an end to things.

I thought so too. Your method of dealing with those kind of calls is quite brilliant.

Good idea. Perhaps Drunken Sailor. "Shave his balls with a rusty razor..."

I generally get a bit grumpy if I'm on hold for more than half an hour. Or if I am trying to get something done with someone who does not speak English.

No, I am lucky to have good health care providers that do not vex me. I do not answer phone calls I do not know.

That phone call from the mammogram lady didn’t even bother my dad, but it bothered me.

Nothing like a blood boiling call . A medical billing department was harassing us regarding one of my dad's procedures which should have been covered by insurance . . . it's a whole long story but it had to do with paperwork that was incorrectly submitted by them. They were in the wrong, and my blood would boil when talking to this one woman . . . even her messages made me upset .

Sorry about that bad experience. Well I had that kind of experience with arrogant clients and arrogant callers specially those who calls about your colleagues who opens account with them - they are so irritating and very rude.

@AmbiePam super duper annoying. I remember one of the calls was from another company, I think she was verifying if that colleague of mine is really part of our company, she sound like that colleague of mine is applying for a new job in their company; on the latter part of our conversation that woman just want me to repeat what she just told me - which I think was normal, but the way our conversation flow that morning, she sound like I am stupid the whole time, and the way she wants me to repeat what she just told me, my irritation got so high, and I asked her if I should process that colleague of mine his resignation... should I tell our HR that we need to hire a new employees... her voice went panic, and told me it is not necessary and hang up. I think she was rude or maybe not... but I think at some point she was.

There are some people who really rub me the wrong way. Thankfully most recently I've only given the person a piece of my my mind, but mostly I try to walk away.

What a terrible thing to say to your father when you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.

I am also a very patient person, but I have been in situations where I have realised my pressure rising during a call. It has happened few times while talking to a bot on other side. You keep pressing the buttons and you don't get the right solution. And then there is no option of what you want. Customer service calls with bots suck.

I don't tend to answer the phone if I am not expecting a call, I let it go to voicemail. I have been disappointed when the shoe is on the other foot and the one that I am calling lets it go to voicemail. Normally, I don't stress over too much on the phone, I am pretty laid back when it comes to conversing like that.

Since we don't have landline this early happens now. But sometimes those persistent agent kept offering whatever they can offer and don't take no for an answer

Some phone calls that make threats of cutting off my internet service unless I pay the bill is not paid which is usually a false alarm.

It just happened the other day with Kinetic/Windstream. I actually raised my voice and got quite steamed. We've been without our landline for 10 days and have another 2 weeks to wait. Grrrrr. Have a good weekend.

Not really. I just cut the call whenever something proceeds in such a direction.
